CO-OP ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE:

Wilson Sporting Goods Ada, Ohio 9/97-8/98

Engineering Technician: Performed PLC programming for machines used in production (DL-105 family and Allen-

Bradley SLC 500), fabricated machinery from others’ and own designs, used CAD software to create and edit

machine layouts, documented manufacturing procedures.

EXPANDED EXPERIENCE:

Baldwin Filters Kearney, Nebraska 10/21/2003-5/15/2008

New equipment projects:

1) Performed controls design and PLC programming for a custom ergonomic lift table. This machine improved

operator safety and comfort.

2) Performed controls design and PLC programming for an automated filter media assembly work cell. This

project involved using an Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLC platform to control rotary and linear servo motors,

setup and integration of HMI devices, and integration of the system with purchased pieces of equipment.

3) Performed controls design, PLC programming, hydraulic system design, and pneumatic system design for a

custom metal forming machine. This project allowed a purchased good component to be made “in house.”

Project management experience:

1) Managed projects related to facility improvement including upgrading a lighting system in part of the facility,

preparation of areas of the facility to allow installation of new equipment.

2) Managed a project related to the purchase, installation, and launch of a strip steel blanking line. This project

involved determining needs, working with vendors and in-house personnel to meet those needs, training of

the operators in use of the new equipment, and supporting maintenance in troubleshooting during the initial

launch.

3) Managed projects related to the purchase, installation, and launch of resistance welding equipment. This

project involved optimization of the spot welding schedules, troubleshooting of the weld process, and

training of operators in use of the equipment.

Jefferson Industries Corporation West Jefferson, Ohio 3/01-4/02

Implemented process improvement projects:

1) AccuWeld: Optimized spot weld parameters to significantly reduce weld expulsion and reduce process cycle

time by more than one 1 second. An improvement like this is a cost savings due to the increased throughput

and an improvement in operator safety and reduction in unplanned downtime due to reduced weld

expulsion.

2) Developed a shock absorber system for chutes that delivered the finished parts to the operator. This project

improved operator safety and product quality.

3) Developed an optical solution for a part sensing problem. There was a need to detect a piece of black

material placed between two pieces of sheet metal. This was a problem due to the high degree of weld

expulsion present. An optical sensor was installed and protected from weld expulsion. This reduced the

number of customer complaints.

New equipment projects:

1) Wrote an original PLC program for a hydraulic stamping press.

2) Gained experience in new model launches and start-up plans.

DaimlerChrysler Corporation, Dayton Thermal Products Dayton, Ohio 5/00-3/01

New equipment projects:

Worked with the new model launch team to implement new processes.

Gained experience in new model launches and start-up plans.

Plastic Injection Molding department projects:

Modified and optimized an automatic raw material feed system. This resulted in reduced downtime and

reduced waste.

Worked with production to modify the part conveyor system. This resulted in a manpower reduction and

reduced downtime.

Worked with the engineering department to improve the chilled water system to improve safety of personnel.
