Ship Security Officer (SSO) for the Sea-Based X-Band Radar (SBX-1). Serving as

the Manager/Team Leader of a 14 person at-sea quick reaction security team.

Assigned as Anti-Terrorism Officer for SBX-1. Responsibilities include

coordination with GMD Combatant Commander, Missile Defense Agency and

other GMD entities. The SSO coordinates with the Vessel Master and Site Manager

and Vessel Security Focal (VSF) for the overall management and enforcement of all

shipboard physical security policies, programs and procedures for the Sea Based X

Band radar (SBX-1). Management Responsibilities for this position include, but

• Coordinates and supports the Combatant Commander, Joint Program Officer, and

Vessel Security Focal (VSF) for Operational Site Security requirements.

• Coordinates with the Boeing Site Manager and Vessel Master for any deficiencies

and non-conformities identified during internal audits, periodic reviews, security

inspections and verifications of compliance and implementing any corrective

actions.

• Provides and supports Security Awareness and vigilance training is provided and

maintained through regularly scheduled Physical Security, AT Level I and

OPSEC briefings.

• Responsible for development and implementation of robust training schedule to

meet Physical and Information Security Standards required by Missile Defense

Agency and the Global Midcourse Defense Program.

• Coordinating the implementation of the Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection Plan.

• Ensuring that security equipment is operational, tested, calibrated and maintained.

• Implementation of all Security Procedures as directed by Global Midcourse

Defense, Missile Defense Agency, Joint Program Officer, Vessel Master or

Vessel Security Focal (VSF).

• Implement / maintain the SSP, including any amendments to the plan.
