Student Assistant at the College of Education, USF, Jun 2008 – Nov 2008
•
Aid with collection and organization of data for a research project that analyzes trends in Physics
education since 1960. Data collection involves looking at Physics textbooks for various grades since
1960 and organizing them into an easy to analyze research data format using Microsoft Excel.
Projects
Biomedical Engineering
• Project on “Advancement of NEMS Technology in Genomics”. A Report on recent
advancements in NEMS technology that apply in Genomics study and its applications.
• Project on “Implantable MEMS Sensor for Regulation of Dialysis Treatment”. Minimally
invasive MEMS ISFET potassium sensor based Research proposal closed loop continuous
monitoring of dialysis treatment.
• Project on “Excellence in Quality Management-Study and Analysis”. A Report on Quality
management at Bronson Methodist Hospital, a Malcolm Balridge National Quality Award
recipient.
• Project on "Design controls for an MRI Machine". Analysis of different design controls for a
Magnetic Resonance Imaging Scanner using traceability matrix and risk analysis on the design
using traceability matrix for the machine.
• Term papers on Johnson and Johnson, Centocor-J&J subsidiary and their product called
Remicade. Studied the various organizational procedures in marketing a new drug and the history
of the company Johnson and Johnson and Centocor. Studied a drug developed by the company,
Remicade, an autoimmune disorder treatment, and its manufacture by cloning and purification
techniques.
• Simulated delivery of drugs into the heart of an animal. The project involved controlling the
process of administration of drugs into the heart of a rat using LabView.
• Temporal and pattern-based analysis to identify normal and abnormal recordings of ECG signals.
The project involved both the recording of ECG signals and their analysis for diagnosis of
abnormalities or disorders.
• Recording of various physiological parameters like heartbeat rate, oxygen content in blood and
respiration rate (lung volume) using patient monitoring system comprising of Telemetry unit,
Oxymeter and Respiration meter.
Computer Science
• Statistical analysis of processes and their controls using SAS programming. Biostatistics for
analysis of processes involved in the design of the collection protocols for observational studies,
designed experiments, complex probability surveys, clinical trials, multi-site trials, longitudinal
studies, and quality control systems.
• Automation of Railway Reservation System using Java servlets. The back-end database system
used was MS-SQL.
• Automation of library maintenance system in C#. C# was used to both simulate the back-end and
front-end operations.
Electrical Engineering and Electronics
• Interfacing of D/A, A/D converters and display devices using micro processors and micro
controllers. Construction of a circuit using microprocessors and microcontrollers to organize and
control the process of traffic regulation in a junction of four routes.
