We inventoried the entire plant in approx. 2.5 hrs, twice/year between shifts. Wrote
standard work for this process including the roles/responsibilities of each T/M..
-Involved in a myriad of Kaizen activities over the years including setting up internal
delivery systems based on the KANBAN.
-Extensive practical knowledge of the Toyota Production System and Just-in-Time
production including elimination of Muda; Kanban, Kaizen, Jidoka, Pokeyoke devices,
Heijunka, Takt Time vs. Cycle time, Standardized Work etc.
Accomplishments
-Certified TPS (Toyota Production System) Trainer. Taught other management members
the basic Kaizen method. Including the steps to a successful KAIZEN event. Used the
Standard work, combination table, work flow, and work balancing (Yamazumi) to
establish the current condition. Then seek KAIZEN points, brainstorm possible solutions,
test them, and implement what works into the standard work. Education of the members
was the main goal of this training.
-Perfect Attendance over the last 11 years.
-As theGroup Leader of the Q.C. ( Quality Circle), I directed a KAIZEN event that
reduced shipping cost to TMMK by over $1m/year. I facilitated my group’s repackaging
of parts received from Japan in more efficient and user-friendly ways. This was a long
term project (about 1 yr) but resulted in ongoing cost savings and established a precedent
for future repackaging at each model change. Most importantly, this process also served
as training for my T/Ls and T/Ms for future KAIZENS involving cost savings.
-At Terex, implemented KANBAN from sub-assemblies to main line to communicate all
relevant information and provide visual control. This was new to plant. Working since
April on new model launch which was successful. Also, developing a very detailed
Standard Work Manual for each T/M position. Includes pictures, tools needed, and very
detailed descriptions. These processes have long TAKT times and are difficult to learn.
This is new to the plant and will be the basis, going forward, for Standard Work in the
plant. Also, currently setting up a store area, including internal KANBANS and standard
labeling and signage, to minimize lineside inventory and provide visual control.
-Possess strong interpersonal skills developed during daily interactions/negotiations with
other Groups and Departments concerning work related issues. Goal was always
elimination of Muda.
-Possess extensive working knowledge of the Toyota Production System. Including
Standard Work, KAIZEN, Jidoka, and the KANBAN understanding the relationship
between man, methods, materials, and machines.
-Developed budgets, KPIs, KAIZEN plans w/ layouts, visual controls, and various safety
initiatives. Familiar w/ ISO procedures and requirements.
