National Solid Waste Collection and Disposal Company
Director of Operations/Operations Improvement Manager-Michigan Market Area (2003 to 2009)
Responsible for operations of 6 collection districts and 7 landfills with approximately $180 million in revenue,
350 routes and 600 employees.
Assisted in the development of Productivity, Safety, Maintenance tracking system for the Michigan
Market Area resulting in increased information accuracy, increased productivity from 2001 to 2006
(Commercial 6.6%, Residential 28.7%, Industrial 9.6%), fewer safety incidents and decreased
maintenance cost per hour ($16+/Hour in 2001 vs. $11.49/Hour in 2006).
Within an 18-state group was instrumental part of team achieving “Most Improved Market Area” and
“Best Market Area” in 2004 and 2005, respectively.
Consolidated 7 collection sites and 7 transfer stations into existing WM locations across Central,
Western and Northern Michigan for significant cost savings
Performed due diligence and integration activities on 11 acquisitions with over $11 million in annual
revenue in Central, Western and Northern Michigan from 2002 to 2004
Worked with and mentored several fellow team members to higher positions of authority within Waste
Management.
Negotiated multi-year +$60 million contract extension with Mid Michigan Waste Authority
Implemented vehicle weight tracking system which decreased overweight fines by over $200K in 2008.
Project Manager for one of three pilot sites in Waste Management implementing on board computers for
all collections vehicles
Assisted with day-to-day operations with the 2007 Los Angeles Waste Management strike
Full P&L responsibility on approximate $200 million annual budget along with capital project
management of an average annual amount of $15 to $20 million
