Product Engineer
Develop product design proposals to meet the customer needs.
Work with CAD team to create prototype drawings and product
drawings. Work with prototype shop to build prototype parts.
Release prints and Engineering borders in PDM. Work with
Purchasing and suppliers to get prototypes and production
components that are needed for specific programs. Coordinate
with suppliers to get the parts on time for builds. Provide costs to
customers for design changes. Design review meetings with our
plants in US and Mexico to inform them on the design changes and
review prints, timing and cost. Participate in APQP / Program
Management meetings. Develop, manage & communicate
program timing to internal and external customers. Act as single
point of contact with internal and external customers. Regular
travel to our customer and manufacturing facilities. Track
customer program timing for engineering activities. Create
DVP&Rs and DFMEAs. Review plant PFMEA’s and Control
Plans. Provide technical support to our customers during vehicle
development, launch, and during productions.
Cost Estimator
Estimates the costs to the company to produce those products,
including any tooling and capital required to build those parts.
Review customer "Request for Quotations" (RFQ's) and print
layouts to determine the "Bill of Materials (BOM's) and Labor
Routing Process required to build the part. Develop cost estimates
based on the BOM's and routing for each RFQ. Create tooling and
Capital Equipment requirements for building each part.
Work with the manufacturing facilities to establish accurate costs
and develop a system to ensure information is current. Prepare
"Absolute" and "Variance" financial analysis of the quote for use
by Sales.
