My name is Mark Lane and I worked in the building sciences for 12 years with construction companies and architectural

firms. Recently, I acquired the Construction Document Technologist certification and plan to sit for the LEED certification on June

12, for which I am currently studying. My construction and architectural experiences combine residential and commercial upfits,

historic residential renovations, tilt-panel warehouse construction and new multi-family. Throughout most of my architectural career,

I have been placed in a position as a lead detailer due to my previous construction experience. Though my focus has been largely on

multi-family projects of varying scale, I am willing to perform all sectors of design and look forward to the diversity. Also, code

review is very important to me and I constantly strive for methods to create a clarity and communication between the construction

drawings and code sections. As a result, the last 300+ unit multi-family project that I completed passed through permitting without a

single code-review comment, saving the firm from a potentially timely resubmittal process. Please consider my qualifications for any

Education

Savannah College of Art and Design – Georgia (1996)

Bachelors and Masters degrees (Cum Laude) in architecture from a design school with a flare for imposing many other

trades on its architecture students; e.g. - graphic design, photography, historic preservation, art history.

University of Edinburgh – Scotland (2007)

Masters degree in History of Art, with a specialty in French art, government and culture of the Nineteenth and Twentieth

centuries.

Experience

Entasis Design - Kannapolis, NC – (September 2007 to January 2009) (offspring firm from Humphries & Partners)

Architect, project manager – my duties were to complete land planning and construction documents on multi-family

projects such as student housing, condo/apartment projects and clubhouses.

Narmour Wright Associates - Charlotte, NC – (August 1998 to January 2000 and February 2005 to July 2007)

Architect, project manager – my duties were to run multi-family projects and help raise the detailing and coordination

abilities of the wood-frame staff by means of enhanced document standards and by example. When first working with NW,

my position was a “catch all” that included work on single-family home development, multi-family condominiums and

apartments. Some of the smaller projects allowed me to revise plumbing, mechanical and electrical drawings, which was a

wonderful opportunity

software, and raise the detailing and coordination abilities of the staff by means of enhanced document standards
