Career Objective: To find a position that utilizes my three main strengths at a Company that truly embraces Continuous Im-
provement. These three strengths are:
Tremendous machining expertise. This is real-world, in-depth knowledge of machining processes based on 20-plus
years of hands-on experience that yields results. I am very skilled at applying Lean Principles to machining operations that
have positive impact on the bottom line.
Gifted leadership ability. I have been able to achieve great success by achieving buy-in at multiple levels. Great things
can be accomplished if everyone is headed towards a common goal.
Business acumen. I think strategically as well as practically. I have been able to hit both short and long-term objectives
through a combination of the following – a blend of innovative thinking, effective communication, and the ability to inspire
people to strive for higher heights of productivity.
Experience
Manufacturing Manager, Triumph Structures – Kansas City
Grandview, MO
An AS9100 certified aerospace component manufacturer employing approximately 180 associates in a four-building campus. Core com-
petencies include CNC machining and assembly of Aerospace components. Highlights of this tenure include:
Technical Enhancements
Development of a Titanium machining cell
Altered the existing machining strategy, used modern high-feed and plunge cutting techniques and poka-yoked the machining
process. Bottom line is that this cell is currently producing parts in approximately 1/3 of the previous cycle time with an extraordi-
narily low scrap rate.
Managerial Enhancements
The Company is divided into two major divisions. One of these divisions had been carrying the financial burden for the past several
years, with the other at a loss. Under my direction, both divisions are now profitable.
Director of Manufacturing, Dew Technologies
Fairborn, OH
Dew Tech was a very reputable ISO 9001/2000 and ISO 13485 certified medical implant manufacturer employing approximately 60 associates. Highlights
of this tenure include:
Technical Enhancements
Numerous improvements to existing product line that improved profitability and opened up capacity. This high-tech shop used Swiss-
turn, 5-axis mill, sinker and wire EDM, and multi-axis grinding, programmed via UniGraphics and PartMaker, to produce their product.
This position was heavily weighted with engineering responsibilities that included, in addition to directly managing the
processing/programming/fixture design, interaction with our customers’ Design Engineers. I would suggest enhancements that would
ensure ease of manufacture, and work with them through the design phase and into new product launch.
Managerial Enhancements
A main focus of this tenure was to establish the infrastructure required to grow the Company. I implemented and developed
all of the departments required to allow the Company to grow, including Production Control (ERP/MRP ShopTech E2), Estimating,
Contracts, Maintenance, etc. The end result was that as the Company doubled in size (moved from $400K/month to $1M/month), we
avoided the traditional “growing pains” by having the team in place to successfully navigate through the growth.
Plant Manager, Universal Precision Products
Akron, OH; 1988-2001
Job shop and custom design/builder of industrial equipment. Highlights of this tenure include:
Technical Enhancements
Developed in-depth machining and welding process strategies, for both new and existing product.
Managerial Enhancements
Implemented a bonus program (utilizing lean manufacturing techniques) that dramatically impacted the bottom line.
Education
Four-year degree from the National Tooling and Machining Association (NTMA). Graduated as “Journeyman Machinist”
with a near-perfect GPA in 1994.
