ACHIEVEMENTS
I have achieved success in varied roles as individual contributor, production
supervisor, and mid-level manager in a variety of industries, locations, and work
systems. Including shipbuilding, aircraft engine manufacture, paper manufacture,
and oil refining. Successfully contributed in: union, non-union, participative,
engineering/professional, and IT business systems work environments.
Developed detailed scopes and cost estimates for major (>$5MM) capital investment
proposals for rebuilds, new installation, and productivity improvements for a wide
variety of paper machine types. Development and implementation of proprietary de-
inking technologies for paper manufacture. Developed numerous spreadsheet
applications to automate analysis of paper machine rebuilds, cost estimating, and
improve requirements definition with other process development groups.
Participated in process design, equipment selection, and plant layouts with
consulting engineering firms during capital project development. Interfacing with
mill management, corporate sponsors, and presentation of results to Corporate
Management (Sector VPs and Manufacturing Managers).
Manufacturing process manager - achieved sustained performance improvement of
assigned paper machine from 82% at assignment to 103% within 2 months of assuming
machine responsibilities. This was a 200+ TPD uncoated free-sheet machine.
Manager of Technical Services at large containerboard manufacturing facility,
including start-up of new paper machine and recycle plant, development of new
product grades, resolution of customer issues, and reorganization of technical
departments to improve alignment with business unit concepts.
Managed successful effort to achieve ISO 9002 registration for a containerboard
manufacturing facility. This was the first certification within the Corporation.
Assigned as a Business Analyst for redesign of corporate business systems,
implementing supply chain solutions and technologies (SAP). This is a $700 MM
effort to allow the corporation to achieve higher customer satisfaction levels and
improve profitability.
