• Create hot backups procedure utilizing shell scripting. Due to space limitation on the database server
hot backup was done to a remote server using SQL/PLUS scripts and RSYNC OS command. As
part of the hot backup process, create and implement real-time backup of archived logs to the
remote location. Perl scripts are used to analyze alertSID.log and identify archived redo logs for the
remote backup.
Client: Metropolitan Police Department District of Columbia (Apr 2003 Oct 2003)
• Received FBI clearance through MPD in July 2003.
• Provide Oracle DBA support in design and development of GIS database application using ESRI
ARCSDE. The involvement includes business requirement analysis, documentation and presentation
of the suggested design to the client; physical and logical database design; space utilization; growth
projection; hardware configuration; analysis and recommendation of RAID configuration for
development/test and production environments.
• Create backup and recovery process to address development and production needs. Design,
document and implement backup process using RMAN. The process includes identification and
cleanup of old backups and logs.
• Provide Oracle DBA support in development and implementation of data replication process
between two government agencies. The project involved extraction of data from source mainframe
database and load of extracted data into temporary oracle tables using SQL Loader. The second part
of the replication process included manipulation of oracle data using PL/SQL packages which
applied business rules and requirements to the data in temporary tables and inserted/updated
permanent oracle tables. The updated data was made available to the second agency’s SQL/Server
processes for insert/update of the target database. The process was designed/coded to send a text
message to the DBA team’s cell phone in case of error in the process.

• Provide Oracle DBA/PSAdmin support in migration of 40+ PeopleSoft E-Center clients from
Solaris to HP-UX; installed and configured PeopleSoft HRMS/FIN (8.16.00) in 2, 3 and 4-tier
