$100M Biotechnology company headquartered in Burlington, NC that develops, manufactures, markets and sells innovative solutions to

improve the clinical management of cancer, including detection, diagnosis, staging and treatment.

Manager of Procurement Jul 2004 - Present

Reporting directly to the VP of Mf Operations responsible for leading sourcing decisions & supplier selection for direct & indirect spend.

Lead all supplier interaction on Quality & Reliability issues. Responsible for negotiating supplier contracts /settlements for entire company

on major materials such as custom plastic consumables, chemicals, medical hardware, lab equipment & packaging.

Negotiated buy-out of long-term medical devices contract. Buy-out saved $1.2M in contractually obligated purchases. Settlement

allowed early migration to a lower cost, technologically advanced substitute that became the focal point of the 2006 product strategy.

Implemented global supplier management process. Process included stratifying suppliers into classes for management & creation of a

supplier scorecard used for supplier evaluation and measurement. Process improvement led to the company being in compliance with

FDA regulations & being GMP compliant.

Procurement Lead to R&D for 3-new product introductions in 2005 and 2006. Efforts led to overall reduction in cost of bill of material

of 20% and continuity of supply during product transitions.

Business lead on all supplier audits. European supplier audit resulted in changes to inbound supply of collection devices that saved $60K

annually and eliminated two weeks in lead time.

Re-negotiated collection devices contract to eliminate fixed minimum purchases. This effort saved over $900K in contractually

obligated purchases.

Purchasing Manager - Supply Chain Networks - Jul 2001 – Jul 2004

Reporting to the Dir. of Semiconductor Procurement, responsibilities included supplier management of key semiconductors, entailing leading

annual negotiation cycle & securing Best-In-Industry-Pricing. Worked closely with R&D Engineering on new product introduction and

quality engineering on product reliability.

Led cross-functional team that created dual lines of supply for critical wireless timing modules, resulting in a savings of $14M and

uninterrupted supply in 2003.

Led 2003 global programmable logic device negotiations that resulted in over $40M of savings. Savings were obtained by working with

development on early product introduction & leveraging the supply base for cost savings ideas.

Created global procurement strategy for programmable logic devices, representing annual expenditure level of $110M. This strategy

was used as a key tool for early supplier involvement and insuring that spend and resources were channeled through approved and

strategically chosen suppliers.

Lucent Technologies experience continued:

Managed Lucent key strategic semiconductor supplier, resulting in supplier being named Supplier of the Year. This award

was the culmination of spearheading supplier led cost reduction workshops and supplier re-design conferences.

Created/presented Supplier Executive Review Package to senior leadership team & SC President. Package was used to update key

executives on strategic suppliers & to forge closer working relationships between companies at executive management level.

Designed the 2003 semiconductor supplier scorecard allowing Buyers to objectively measure supplier performance. The metric on new

technology leadership in the product field allowed the company to see what companies were truly industry leaders. This was key during

the early stages of new product development.

Negotiated outstanding liability claims with component suppliers resulting in savings of $4M+ in 2002 and 2003. Given the rapidly

decreasing business, leveraged the supplier reduction strategy to get maximum flexibility out of suppliers in the settlement process.

Re-engineered ASIC Buyer position to allow for reduction of 1-full time headcount. Analyzed the job responsibilities across the

positions and took a lean based approach, eliminating redundant activities.

Senior Commodity Manager - Supply Chain Networks - Apr 2000 – Jun 2001

Responsible for supplier management, contract negotiations, commodity strategies, strategic supplier selection and site execution support.

Negotiated 3-year general purchase agreement with largest oscillator supplier. Estimated contract value: $150M. Supplier

has previously been a division of Lucent Technologies and this made the negotiations more challenging given the product

and company knowledge the supplier had at their disposal.

Led the global frequency control products negotiations that resulted in over $20M of projected savings.

Key member of team that insured stable lines during the successful mfg transition from Merrimack Valley, MA to China.

Authored capacity reservation agreement that was used by procurement groups to maintain continuity of supply during

allocation period in market for high frequency fundamental oscillators.
