Provide Customer Support for the BellSouth TechAccess System and the newly developed

Technician Reports Server. The Technician Report Server is an ad-hoc reporting system that allows

users to retrieve real time information on technicians and their jobs. Prior to this, supervisors and

administrators had limited capability to generate reports and the data wasn’t up to date. The report

server database is populated using Informix replication to ensure an exact copy of production data is

available for report generation. The reports are generated using Business Objects and accessed via a

webpage. The TechAccess Report Server is a Sun V480 running Solaris 9.

• Design, Develop & Implement into production the Technician Reports Server.

• Manage upgrades and patches of the INFORMIX Software.

• Manage upgrades and patches of the Business Objects and BEA WebLogic software.

Provide Customer Support for the BellSouth TechAccess System. TechAccess is a wireless and

land–line communication BellSouth system that field technicians use to obtain work, upload and

download data, and interact with stationary personnel. TechAccess uses client–server technology.

The clients are Itronix 6250 series ruggedized laptop PCs running on Windows 95 or Itronix

GoBook ruggedized laptop running Windows XP and are designed for both dial-up and radio

transmission and reception. The servers are multiple UNIX domains in a Sun Enterprise 10000

frame running Solaris 2.8. Compaq rack mounted Pentium 4 Protocol Servers running Windows

NT 4.0 handle the communications between the clients and the UNIX domains.

Provide Customer Support for the BellSouth TELIS System. TELIS provides Long Distance Carriers

an Interface for ordering service requests and viewing request history and status. The customer user-

interface is a software product developed and supported by an outside vendor and utilizes the

INFORMIX Database Management System under the HP-UX operating system. The hardware is a HP

K-570 9000 Series server. Updates to the BellSouth mainframe ordering system and the TELIS

Informix Database are made through file transmissions between the two systems.

• Monitor the flow of batch files to and from the Mainframe DB through the support of UNIX

shell scripts and C programs.

• Provide 2nd tier technical support.

• Provide reports to BellSouth and the Carrier Customers using INFORMIX SQL.

• Perform all installation application patches and upgrades.

• Assisted in the configuration, installation and cutover of the TELIS application to a more

efficient UNIX server.

Manage the UNIX based TASKMATE Order Processing System (TOPS) and a staff of eight developers.

TOPS automates the processing and completion of service orders for the various carriers through

mainframe terminal emulation. The language in which the TOPS application modules were written was

developed by Bellcore to communicate with an IBM Mainframe through a High Level Application

Program Interface (HLLAPI) software package.

• Manage customer request based on programmer workload, priorities and skill set.

• Interface with the customer regularly to discuss request progress, problems/defects encountered,

and future projects.
