I would like to work as a Metallurgist / Quality Engineer.

SKILLS

Carbon sulfur determination in steel, Solid state analysis. Thermal analysis, heat treatment, of

steels as per NADCAP requirements and standards. Solution heat treatment and precipitation

hardening of C355 and A 356 aluminum alloys. Knows the affect of furnace atmospheres and

potential decarburization. Metallographic examination of castings, cold forgings, wire drawing,

experience with (SEM) scanning electron microscope. Jominy end quench testing, fracture

mechanics studies, tensile and hardness testing, creep testing, fatigue, writing procedures, SPC

data collection, data analysis, and process capability studies, report writing. Research and

development work. Use of 3Dxr System and the Rhythm software for image review ( X-rays)

Work with technical drawings.

pickling, annealing, and drawing process. Microscopical examination for decarburized or

Lab Technician NDT- Quality Control

Managed daily operation of metallurgical and nondestructive testing, and performed liquid

penetrant & radiographic testing inspection of aluminum alloys castings. Did solid state analysis

using the Baird Arc/park Spectrometer for incoming aluminum ingots.

Monitored solution heat-treated aluminum alloys parts, A356, and C355 for high temperature

oxidation and eutectic melting and perform hardness testing of T6 components. Measurements of

casting thickness using ultrasonic wall thickness gages. Use of calipers and micrometers. Work

with the team in quality improvement processes.

Metallurgist

Research in tungsten alloys design with an aim to increase density. Formulated tungsten powder

mix for sintering, monitor sintering temperatures. Weighed out powders, mixed, made compacts

and sinter to produce slug. Polishing, etching, and metallographic examination of sintered

samples, checked sintered density, magnetic permeability and Rockwell Hardness of test

samples, document results.

1981-1986 - Guyana National Engineering Corporation, Georgetown

Foundry and Ship Building Division- Metallurgist

Formulated metal charges for melting cast iron, bronze, brass and aluminum alloys.

Operated 20 tons induction, furnace, 300 lbs. tilting crucible furnace for aluminum and brass

melting. Supervised casting processes and conducted chill testing, sand permeability and

moisture content testing with the aim to reduce porosity and surface defects. Planned

experimentation of sand casting processes to reduce porosity thus improved structure and

properties of the castings. X-Ray of welds .

of turbine blades.

Metallurgy - Lab Technician

Research and development of welding electrodes. Performed Microscopical analysis of welded

samples made from low and medium carbon steels, tensile, charpy -v-notch testing to determine

the ductile to brittle transition ranges of the welds. Hardness testing was also done and results

were documented.

Metallographic examination and spectrochemical analysis of metals slugs/coupons (drilled steel)

was sampled and tested for carbon content ( Gravimetric combustion method). Did chemical

analysis by titration of dissolved iron and steels samples for aluminum, manganese,

nickel, phosphorus, and vanadium content.
