research program for advanced safety technologies, and supervised successful preparation
of program application (identify benefits to company etc). Based on the submitted
application, Toyota is for the first time in a direct technical partnership with DOT.
Worked with domestic and international vehicle manufacturers in a successful lobbying

effort to persuade the FCC to dedicate bandwidth for vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle to road
infrastructure communication.
Advocated and protected Toyota Motors’ interests within The Alliance of Automobile

Manufacturers, a trade association.
Planned and coordinated two successful corporate diversity meetings and accompanying

events sponsored by the government affairs section of the office. I was personally
recognized by the head of corporate diversity for my efforts.

Rose from a staff position to most senior U.S. employee in charge of the government

technical relations team. Abilities and judgment in successfully managing the daily work
in the office and staff were recognized by the Japanese assignee from the corporate head
office through successive merit increases, despite the adverse financial condition of the
company.

Negotiated for and successfully garnered support from domestic and international vehicle
•
manufacturers in seeking and obtaining regulatory relief from the National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration. Had regulatory relief not been granted, Mitsubishi Motors
product development, marketing plans and sales would have been severely disrupted.
Successfully supported the government relations Executive Director in her congressional

lobbying activities on vehicle safety issues for Mitsubishi Motors.
Advocated and protected Mitsubishi Motors interests at the Alliance of Automobile

Manufacturers, a manufacturer trade association, even though Mitsubishi Motors is a non-
voting, associate member.
Successfully persuaded management to end Mitsubishi Motors relationship with the law

firm it had long used for counsel on vehicle safety regulations. Recommended and
engaged the services of another law firm resulting in reduced fees ($100 per hour less) and
better service.

• Used my knowledge and insights as an American who understands the Japanese automobile
industry and corporate culture, to recommend to the local office and manager and assignee
from corporate head office, action on issues related to Mitsubishi vehicle production and
