NOVEMBER 2007 TO PRESENT: BARZ ADVENTURES, DIRECTOR OF PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
BarZ Adventures produces educational GPS tour products for parks and zoos. I manage development and testing of hardware
and software. I build relationships with customers and investors to further the growth of the company. In my time at BarZ, I
have learned from many successes and mistakes. I have taken the product through 3 full lifecycles, each version improving on
the previous and adding to its functionality. I also authored a patent for GPS Gaming. Cool, right?
APRIL 2006 TO NOVEMBER 2007: BARZ ADVENTURES, PROJECT MANAGER
I managed the technical end of the startup. I had a team of 6 developers and 3 QA engineers, some in house and some
outsourced. I defined new product specs, laid out the project plan, held suppliers and employees to schedule, and managed
bug tracking and resolution. For kicks, I also oversaw corporate IT including Exchange, Web, Project, and Domain Servers.
MARCH 2006 TO APRIL 2006: BARZ ADVENTURES, SOFTWARE DEVELOPER
Architected and Developed C#/C++ application for mobile devices on Win CE platform. The application was a location based
tour guide running on a GPS navigation device. I also wrote the corporate website. It did not take long to get promoted.
MAY 2005 TO DECEMBER 2005: VIEO, INC./CESURA, INC., QA ENGINEER
Cesura was a (failed) startup software company that built software to monitor networks and business solutions. I built large
production network simulations, by installing multi tier applications and testing them. I developed and ran load scripts and
broke things to simulate business disruptions. My job was to help figure out why the product did not do what it advertised.
JUNE 2004 TO MAY 2005: MOTION COMPUTING INC., INTERN
Motion Computing is a startup tablet PC company focused on vertical markets. I was an intern for Software Department
under the direction of the VP of Software. I developed tools for use by development and quality assurance. I did integration
testing of hardware and software components. I developed an infrastructure of test suites in VBScript to assure the quality of
in house and third party software. Motion was a great company and I learned as much as I could.
AUGUST 2001 TO DECEMBER 2004: THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN, STUDENT
I developed a strong understanding of the mathematics and electronics that Computer Science is built on. I took a closer look
at AI through various research opportunities. UT has one of the top ten Computer Science programs in the nation. I graduated
with a B. A. in Computer Science with Special Departmental Honors and wrote my Honors Thesis with Dr. Rappaport:
“Computer Aided Architectural Replication”. I partied enough to graduate with a 3.5 GPA in 3 years without becoming boring.
AUGUST 2003 TO DECEMBER 2003: PONTIFICIA UNIVERSIDAD CATÓLICA DEL PERÚ
I did research concerning Spanish and Aymara Natural Language Processing. Courses were administered in Spanish. I had the
opportunity to do research with professors and students while working with indigenous peoples like the Jakari. On my own
time, I served in an orphanage in Lima and wondered the amazons with the locals. It was quite an experience.
