WORK HISTORY
2007 to present Director Human Resources, Ochsner Health System
Lead system HR and related staff for all non-clinical services including corporate,
finance, business services, academics & research, Ochsner Baptist Medical Center,
and Elmwood Fitness Center. Work closely with senior leaders on strategic
planning, recruitment, retention and coaching & developing managers to ensure
positive outcomes. Develop, coordinate, and communicate all HR policies.
Spearheaded management union avoidance training and the Employee Free Choice
Act.
2005 –2007 Director Human Resources, Qwest Communications
Guide nine HR generalists in support of the Business Markets Group and Wholesale
business units consisting of 5000 sales, management, and sales support
employees (management & craft) across the U.S. Initiated the hiring, training,
and integration of 300 front line sales employees simultaneously managing annual
attrition from 16.2% to 14.5%. Focused on attrition management (behavioral
interviewing, on-boarding, setting expectations, one page plans, frequent one on one
coaching & feedback, management training) reducing expenses $9.3 million.
Developed & implemented Performance Improvement Plan process centered on
sustained total billed revenue & sales attainment. Aligned executive & generalists
ensuring unity of purpose, business focus, while maintaining consultative balance.
2000 –2005 Director Human Resources, Cendant Corporation
Direct all domestic and international HR programs and requirements for Cendant
Telecommunications and oversee three HR generalists (U.S., Europe, Asia). As a
member of the senior leadership team, provide counsel to senior management for the
organization’s direction on policy and training for the cultural changes. Wrote and
rolled out 2002/2003 Bonus Plans and Code of Conduct incenting behaviors in
support of Cendant culture. Initiated management training meetings ensuring senior
management initiatives & expectations were met in a matrix environment.
Led HR team in outsourcing of the data center - 285 employees to IBM.
Collaborated with IBM leadership ensuring all transition actions were seamless &
supported by dual communications. Developed account management oversight
team responsible for the long-term contract.
1996-2000 National Director Human Resources, Merrill Corporation
Reporting directly to the CEO, developed policy and tactical initiatives to support the business
and 1400 employees in 14 cities. Implemented initiatives include performance
management, compensation, management and employee training, background checks
and Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE). Initiatives providing direct financial
results (in excess of $500,000 during the first year) included the design and
implementation of: “Needs of the Business”; “Premium Pay”; Reduction in Force
(RIF); HSE Committee Program and Incentive Plans.
As a team member, completed the software firm acquisition of Executech. From detailed due
diligence to closing, ensured company interests were protected, HR staffing was
appropriate and consistent that lead to the successful integration of 145 new
employees.
Led the development of the Management Development Seminar and training of 125 line
managers in seven cities. Training consists of 14 modules that were designed to
increase productivity. Results were a management turnover reduction of 17%, zero
lost accounts and client satisfaction surveys that were overwhelmingly positive.
Enabled the establishment of pay for performance orientation.
1993-1996 Regional Human Resources Manager, Pitney Bowes Management Services
Directed the planning, implementation and management of all HR functions for a
region of 900 employees in 80 outsourced locations throughout Maryland, Virginia
and the District of Columbia.
Recruited and qualified all personnel for management, sales and analyst positions.
Built and refined relationships with search firms, assessment centers and advertising
agencies. Wrote RFP for temporary labor (non-exempt services contract)
consolidated vendors/billing for labor savings of $88,000 CY ‘96.
Successfully diverted union organizing drive at the U.S. House of Representatives by
working closely with front-line managers to develop security plans. Developed
performance based group incentive plan, open door process, Disaster Recovery Plan
and Staffing Contingency Plan to ensure contracted service levels were met. Trained
managers in union organizing process to avoid unfair labor practices.
