Professional Experience

Waste Management, Upstream

12/05 – present Resource Manager

Project location: General Motors Fairfax Assembly – Kansas City, KS

Duties include:

• Serving as the onsite project manager for WM’s Resource Management contract with

GM Fairfax Assembly;

• Overseeing the collection and disposal of all waste (hazardous & non-hazardous) and

recyclable material generated at the GM Fairfax Assembly plant;

• Maintaining environmental regulatory compliance for customer by managing multiple

waste streams on a daily basis;

• Developing an annual budget for this project location;

• Evaluating the monthly cost of waste disposal and investigating cost-saving

opportunities;

• Maintaining monthly and annual financial records (PO Log, paymentNet, invoicing,

etc…) for the GM Fairfax project;

• Scheduling the loading and transportation of waste leaving the Fairfax plant;

• Writing labels, manifest, and annual waste generator reports;

• Selecting approved vendors that will haul and dispose of the waste;

• Reviewing laboratory analytical data to prepare waste profiles;

• Writing safe operating procedures related to the three compactors onsite;

• Developing plans for waste elimination, reduction, reuse or recycling;

• Communicating & cooperating with GM and UAW labor personnel to ensure that our

coordinated efforts are supporting the plant through effective recycling and proper waste

management;

• Conducting inspections and audits of waste accumulation areas;

• Providing RCRA Haz Waste annual refresher training for GM personnel;

• Coordinating and planning the annual GM Fairfax Earth Day event that occurs each

April, 2006-2008;

• Volunteering at community environmental awareness events such as Kansas City Clean

Streams, 2006-2008, and the Heartland Tree Alliance’s 2009 Arbor Day event; and

• Training new WM employees onsite that were hired for the Commodity Resource

Management initiative

11/03 – 12/05 Environmental Technician III

Project location: ExxonMobil Chalmette Refinery – Chalmette, LA

Duties include:

• Assisting the project manager to ensure that WM is fulfilling its contractual obligations

to the ExxonMobil Chalmette Refinery;

• Simultaneously coordinating with personnel at multiple levels to ensure that waste

management activities are moving forward and that our day-to-day operations are conducted

according to refinery procedures and environmental, health, and safety regulatory

requirements;

• Maintaining regulatory compliance for customer by managing multiple refinery waste

streams on a daily basis;

• Interacting daily with ExxonMobil environmental advisors to discuss activities,

progress, and problem resolution;

• Writing procedures and job aides to effectively document waste management activities;

• Collecting waste samples and ensuring proper laboratory submittal;

• Responsible for preparing manifests, LDR forms, annual waste reports, waste profiles,

waste sampling analytical data, etc;

• Operating forklift in waste storage areas; and

• Attending the Chalmette Refinery weekly contractor safety meeting as the Waste

Management safety representative

Parker & Associates, Inc. – Baton Rouge, LA

5/01 –11/03 Operations Manager and EH&S Auditor

Duties included:

• Leading or participating in more than sixty environmental, health, safety, and DOT

HazMat compliance audits in 13 states and in many types of industries and plant settings

(industries include: automotive, electrical power generation, chemical manufacturing,

railroads, refineries, refrigeration, and waste management);

• Reviewing EPA, state, and local operating permits for air, water, and waste to ensure

regulatory compliance

• Presenting audit findings, recommendations, and corrective action ideas to the clients'

environmental management and staff;

• Conducting hazardous waste management audit training for Parker & Associates staff;

• Writing, developing, and reviewing EH&S plans such as SPCC, SWPPP, Tier II, Haz

Waste Contingency, and RMP to ensure regulatory compliance;

• Writing environmental, health, safety, and DOT HazMat procedures & checklists; and

• Collecting and submitting stormwater samples to satisfy the requirements of a clients'

penalties resulting from RMP audit findings;

My graduate and undergraduate college education was focused primarily on the study of earth science, climatology, and

Ohio. I have also been involved with several climate research projects and have co-authored articles published in a

scientific journal.
