CAREER SUMMARY:

My background is broad, with technical depth as well as my accountably for business operations and IS marketing. This allows me to

have an accurate perspective on "fit": where things are, where they're going, how to explain complex situations to multiple levels of

people within the organization and the reasons why we perform the actions that we do. I leverage my background to translate

experience into solutions while also helping to mentor coworkers. I have a passion to continually improve what is necessary to help

the team succeed.

Core Competencies

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY LEADER with strong IS business and operations background, emphasizing strategic agility,

visioning, business integration, business intelligence and ITIL governance.

Business Acumen in Sales and Marketing, Planning and Forecasting, Design Documentation, Consulting Skills, Engineering and

Product Development. Unique ability to communicate and unify Business Requirements to Technical Requirements.

Technology Experience includes breadth and depth regarding Enterprise Architecture, N Tier Architecture, System Integration,

Network and Security Infrastructure, Databases (MSSQL/Oracle/DB2/mySQL), Platforms (Windows/Unix/Linux), Web/App

Servers, Middleware Platforms and Application Development.

Strong Skills in Problem Solving, Staff Development, Team Building, Business Process Engineering, Technical Re engineering and

solving Complex IS Challenges.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

PNC BANK / NATIONAL CITY CORPORATION, Cleveland Ohio Nov. 2000 to Present

Enterprise Architect (2006 to Present)

As an enterprise architect, I continuously seek opportunities to drive out measurable value to the bank. This includes new and

innovative products and services as well as more effective ways to reduce costs. I focus on navigating through the politics and

culture of five silos of development and technology in order to identify commonality and leverage. First steps include: inventories of

what we currently have, common models for business capabilities, creating reference architectures, building governance teams and

knowledge transfer between the silos and prioritizing investment. A key element to our success is implementing a virtual team of

architects that function as a governing body while taking accountability for the bottom line value delivered by IS.

Specific Accomplishments:

Current & Future State Architectures – Implemented a data repository for all business application which includes their

interdependencies, their connectivity at the port, app and server level, along with the future architecture to normalize and

standardize the reuse of common technologies.

Enterprise Asset Roadmap – Leveraged Brick Theory, created roadmaps for each technology for current, short term and long

term states. This was the foundation for all projects that would come before the architecture review board.

Reference Architectures – Produced RA from the Server (hardware, network, OS, software) and onto the common application

technologies (SQL, IIS, webMethods, Infomatica, etc).

Reusability & Exception Governance – Created an Architecture Review Board for Infrastructure and Applications. All projects

that require hardware/software must go through these governing bodies to ensure proper use of technologies and to filter out

true exception requests from poor architectural designs.

Data Integration – Integrated Mega Data Modeling with Asset Center to ensure up to date application dependency drawings.

Transformation Architect (2005 to 2006)

Assigned to a one year led initiative by the NCC CIO, the goal was to transform IS from existing solely as a cost center resource into a

customer centric organization. This dramatically improved the value proposition for IS Clients (lines of businesses). Three actions

provided agility to our partners at a much lower total cost of ownership: designing a differentiated service model, creating

transparency into IS services through the use of BI integration and standing up on demand infrastructure provisioning.

Specific Accomplishments:

IT Service Catalog / Back End Integration – Developed Web .NET UI and MSSQL database for the request and provisioning or all

IT Services. Integrated with Lombardi (Workflow) and Peregrine Service Center (Request Fulfillment) via XML SOAP requests.

Technology Differentiated Services – Created different chargeback architecture options for clients (Win/Unix Platform, Storage,

Network, Availability, DR). Standardized these options for on demand infrastructure auto provisioning.

On Demand Infrastructure – Integrated multiple systems within NCC to create an auto provisioned infrastructure tool. Reduced

end to end server build from 2 weeks to 6 hours.

BI Visibility Infrastructure – Architected as well as developed a flexible database infrastructure that houses data metrics for all IT

Services. This is the central data source for BI reporting tools such as Crystal Reports, Cognos and Microsoft Reporting Services.

Senior Technical Consultant – Tier IV (2003 to Present)

Assembled as a Tier IV Swat Team, the teams focus is to analyze a business system holistically and without bias. Limitations of a silo

support model were unmasked when N Tier distributed computing proved difficult to accurately determine what piece of the

infrastructure/application was failing or causing performance impacts. Knowledge of multiple platforms, networking devices, SAN

infrastructure, firewalls and application programming enables the team to optimize and recover highly complex integrated business

systems quickly. We develop diagnostic tools and methodologies for faster recovery of N Tier systems. We provide technical

assistance, recommendation and advice, fault isolation, metrics and product/service enhancements. When an issue cannot be

solved this team is known as the final escalation.

Specific Accomplishments:

Mortgage Branch Print Solution – Developed a printer driver to utilize the Ricoh option of DirectPDF along with all standard

finishing options (staple, punch, collate). Ricoh does not have a driver that satisfied all of these requirements. This solution

saved NCC $10 million in Network Infrastructure Upgrade savings.

Packet Tagging – For NCC developed applications: Created standards and methods on how to record timestamps directly into

network packets at each system hop so that latency delays can be monitored and isolated in real time.

Diagnostic Tool Development – Quickly isolates where issues may exist in infrastructure: SAN Testing Tool, Remote Sniffer

Deployment and Capture, CPU/Memory/Threading Remote Capture, Application Specific Test Harnesses.

Metric Extraction – Determined what the key metrics are for critical business systems. Harnessed these metrics by either

custom coding or tapping into unknown API’s of third party software. Metrics were then displayed on a business system

dashboard for real time statistics.

Web Operations Technical Lead (2000 to 2003)

I joined National City as the Technical Lead to assist with the creation of a new team that would be responsible for the support of

the new Ecommerce infrastructure along with its applications. My primary job role was to provide a vision, technical leadership,

operational guidelines, mentoring and best practices to the 25 member staff.

Specific Accomplishments:

Flat Domain to 3 Tier Architecture – Eliminated data tier vulnerabilities by moving to an Outer/Inner/Core DMZ infrastructure.

Active/Active Site Configuration – After 9/11, created Load Balanced multi site infrastructure in an active/active mode.

Active Directory Architecture – Eliminated NT DCs and migrated domain to a AD environment with Site, OU, Function Roles.

BIND DNS Migration – Eliminated external DNS provider by implement external facing BIND DNS Servers for all NCC DNS.

Manual to Automated Processes – Multifaceted: Code Releases, User Creation, SQL DTS Packages, WinMgmt, NTFS Lockdown

Environment Governance – Role Based Access, Separate domain than Core, Access Request System, Audits, Build Standards
