WHO IS NIELS PETER OLSEN?
Peter Olsen has, in the last twenty-five years built an
exceptional record in overall planning, creation and
production of marketing & sales communications--
advertising, public relations, technical writing, direct mail,
annual reports, web development and business
communications--from national-broadcast advertising to
speeches & presentations.
BACKGROUND--1979-1980
Graduated by Reed College, Portland, Oregon, Olsen spent
two-years in New York City as a freelance photographer,
and as a lighting technician in a television production
company. He developed skills that would aid him in the
presentation of products in advertising, and in the production
of television commercials.
1980-1985 THE WILLIAM ESTY COMPANY, NEW YORK,
N.Y.
Employed by one of New York's major marketing agencies--
The William Esty Company--Olsen served successively as
Copywriter and Senior Copywriter for over thirty-million
dollars of advertising billing for the following accounts:
Minolta, R.J. Reynolds, Traveler’s Financial Services,
Nabisco, Seagram’s, American Home Products, Warner-
Lambert Genesee, Nissan, and Chesebrough-Pond's.
Olsen created television, radio and print campaigns, which
ran nationally, and in his years at Esty, Minolta went from
third in the market to first.
Olsen's Esty experience in marketing and research
developed a foundation for all of his work since.
1985-1986 AC&R ADVERTISING, NEW YORK, N.Y.
Olsen continued consumer electronic work on the Maxell
and Tiffen accounts, and expanded his technical background
with Perkin Elmer Computers and the Amada Company.
The birth of his first son provided the need to move his family
from New York City to Saratoga Springs, NY, for quality of
life.
1987-1989 LUYK ADVERTISING, ALBANY, N.Y.
Here Olsen continued to supply creative direction, develop
marketing plans, and implement broadcast production for
these accounts: Tobin's First Prize Meats, Albany Savings
Bank, The New York State Council on Children and
Families, Elmer Little Gloves, The Antler's at Lake George,
Cashere Electronic Banking Network, The United Way of
Northeastern New York, Howe Caverns, and St.
Thomas/Anne Klein Leathers.
Since moving to the Capital District, Olsen has been
honored by fourteen first-place NORI AWARDS from the
Northeast Ad Club (more than any other writer/producer in
the same period). Olsen also received a national Silver
Microphone Award for his Public Service radio
advertisement for the United Way of Northeastern New York.
