1995-1996 Spelling Entertainment Group Inc. Los Angeles, CA -- Computer Operations Manager
Managed the operation of a corporate data center with multiple DEC/Compaq VMS and IBM AS/400 systems,
and Intel-based NT servers. Worked closely with user groups to understand their needs and to improve data
center and system responsiveness. Successfully met constantly changing and accelerating end-user,
corporate and IT management deadline requirem ents. Created a system performance and monitoring
program. Maintained and trouble shot existing routines and created new applications. Responsible for over $1
million of nightly payroll processing and check creation for multiple organization payrolls and disbursements.
Responsible for a WAN that included a bi-coastal frame-relay connection.
1991 - 1995 Breslauer, Jacobson, Rutman and Chapman, Inc. Los Angeles, CA – IT Mgr.
Recruited to deal with a $500K VAX-VMS BASIC application development and implementation project
supporting over 600 financial entities that was failing. Stabilized the situation by bridging the divides between
the development, implementation, and the end-user communities. Worked with the development staff to
identify key issues impacting system reliability and to devise and implement a mutually acceptable plan to
address them. Personally made cost-effective, in-house programming additions and changes. Instituted
formalized, end-user threshold and in-service training which turned-around end-user perception of the
system’s reliability and utility. W orked with the end-user community to raise senior management awareness of
the economic necessity to improve the end-user computing infrastructure and end-user competency level.
1990 - 1991 Senco Products, Inc. Cincinnati, OH – Computer System Manager
Hired into an IBM-mainframe CICS TQM environment to organize and manage newly added VAX-VMS
system resources, and train end-users and computer operations staff during the implementation of a user
championed shop floor reporting system for a major make-to-order/make-to-stock manufacturer. Served as
liaison between the user project manager and IS dept. Provided expert consultation resources for
manufacturing dept. interactions with the software vendor during implementation and modification
negotiations. Responsible for the installation, operation, and maintenance of a campus wide fiber -optic and
copper network of routers, terminal servers, and input and output devices. Established and maintained day-
to-day operational plans and procedures, backup and disaster recovery plans and procedures, and all system
documentation.
