including process engineering, industrial engineering and lean manufacturing systems. Hands- on

leader who possesses a vast knowledge of support functions including purchasing, material

control and quality systems. Exceptional skills in dealing with the design, development and

implementation of manufacturing systems within the US and globally. Able to deal with all levels

of labor and management to provide the skills need to accomplish projects on schedule and

within budget.

• Six-Sigma Certified Cost Leader Certified

• Shainin Trained Operational Effectiveness Expert

• Lean Manufacturing Certified Certified Value Engineering Specialist

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Delphi Packard Electric, Warren, OH (1973-2009)

Advanced Vehicle Design Team Member (2008-2009)

Responsible for the development of manufacturing system for High Voltage Connections Systems

used in Electric Hybrid Vehicle Market.

• Coordinated the design and assembly of prototype harnesses for the Chevrolet Volt.

• Organized, designed and installed a prototype build department to facilitate the development of

High Voltage Connection systems. This area facilitated the high-speed development of prototype

designs reducing “design to part” time by 30%.

• Developed manufacturing system required to build High Voltage Connection Systems. Selected

equipment defined workflow, developed build method and analyzed cost of manufacturing

products. This system will be used to build these systems in North America and China.

Engineering Commodity Team Leader and Commodity Cost Leader (2005–2008)

Leader of the purchasing team responsible for reducing overall material costs. This was

accomplished through several strategies, Supplier Suggestions, Material Substitution, Specification

Changes, Process Improvements, and Purchasing Negotiations.

• Developed projects that resulted in $27Mil in material savings over four years.

• Lead the North American and Global resources required to develop new and existing materials

specifications. These projects reduced material cost by $5 Mil /year

• Developed qualified suppliers to produce materials in a competitive worldwide supplier base

allowing for purchasing of materials in countries in which products were manufactured equating

to approx. $4 Mil/ year savings.

• Provided team strategies and guidance in the pursuit of the best cost and quality in supplier

base, saving resource time by focusing on items with the most potential.

• Lead the efforts of Commodity Buyers and Parts Manufactures to reduce cost.

• Developed models of supplier’s cost structure allowing buyers to know when they were getting

good value for the parts they were buying.

• Partnered with the Parts Suppliers and Commodity Buyers to obtain upfront best cost through

the use of Lean Manufacturing Methods. Identified improvements suppliers could make to

reduce the cost they charged Delphi. Contributing $8 Mil/yr in material savings

General Supervisor –Manufacturing Engineering (2000 – 2005)

Supervised the engineering resources assigned to consolidate seven different component business

segments in to one location in the Warren, Ohio facility.

• Leader of multi discipline engineering staff, focused on improvements in manufacturing cost and

quality. Engineering staff included ME, EE, IE.

• Improved the output of this plant by 25% by implementing Lean Manufacturing Methods and

utilizing Six Sigma Methodologies to improve space utilization and quality output.

• Partnered with labor and management to redesign work methods and work rules increasing the

labor efficiency within the plant by an average of 5% per year, equating to approximately $15M

in 5 years.

• Designed and championed a new method of package labeling raising the quality level of this

Plant to become a divisional leader in RPPM. (Returned Parts Per Million)

• Implemented a material pull system allowing the plant to move away from pushing material to

the customer, instead allowing material to be pulled as needed.

• These improvements and many others helped the plant to raise output from 2mil pcs /day to

over 5mil pcs/day.

General Supervisor - Plant Systems Design (1996 – 2000)

Supervised the engineering and production control resources to design and install the

manufacturing system required to produce Bussed Electrical Devices for GM cars and trucks.

• Provided plant layout designed to produce 8000 parts/day. Plant contained 50 Molding

machines and 64 Manufacturing Cells. This design allowed material to flow smoothly through the

production area and reduced space by 20%.

• Designed and implemented a Visual Kanban system to pull material through the manufacturing

system, reducing the required on-hand parts inventory buy 35% and improving cash flow by $3.5

Mil per year.

• Designed and implemented a material forecasting system that ran on a network PC instead of a

Mainframe Computer System, allowing the plant to move from product design to production in a

much shorter timeframe.

• Designed Lean Manufacturing Systems adopted by divisional leadership for the plant, and

helped drive same improvements into other plants.

General Supervisor - Industrial Engineering (1981 – 1996)

Leader of staff of Industrial Engineers focused on Manufacturing Systems Design.

• Introduced lean manufacturing concepts to the plant and helped Manufacturing and Production

Control implement a new pull scheduling system increasing plant output 35%

• Provided methods, station designs and work standards to manufacturing. Improving labor cost

by 22%

• Designed and organized production reporting system improving plant-operating effectiveness.
