MANUFACTURING OPERATIONS MANAGER
An outstanding record in plant reorganizations and in driving increased revenues.
KEY PROFESSIONAL STRENGTHS:
Major Cost Savings Customer Satisfaction
Continuous Process Improvement Team Leadership
Plant Reorganization Effective Asset Management
SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS:
Major Cost Savings: Made good use of aluminum coil material, at a $400K cost that had
been left unused for three years. Coated the dies and changed the lubrication process to
produce aluminum parts out of the coils. Reduced scrap from 90% to fewer than 5%, a
savings that went straight to the bottom line.
Continuous Process Improvement: Reduced overtime by 95% through lean
manufacturing process improvements, significantly lowering labor costs. Cut setup time
by 50%. Persuaded management and labor that we had a viable project, and increased
through-put by 7% from 180,000 to 250,000 stamped parts daily.
Plant Reorganization: Managed all elements in the change from a satellite corporation
plant to a stand-alone plant. Hired and trained management personnel. Played a critical
role in the survival of the plant, which became a thriving production facility.
Customer Satisfaction: Greatly enhanced customer satisfaction through meeting
expectations of quality and on-time delivery. Implemented containment of bad parts,
preventing shipment to customers. Generated a $2 million annual sales increase.
Team Leadership: Established a program management and launch team that centered on
the APQP process. Directed all phases of the first on time launch of new product, on
budget, on schedule. Helped produce a $2 million annual sales increase.
Effective Asset Management: Reduced inventory by 30% ($1.2 million) and freed up
floor space for all remaining inventory. Launched a new MRP system that scheduled the
plant for just in time rather than batch quantities. Implemented Kaizen events, reducing
lead time and increasing through-put.
