experience in chemical/polymer engineering.
QUALIFICATION
Extensive experience in nanostructured thin film preparation, polymer process and
synthesis, molecular sieve preparation.
Excellent hands-on skills in characterization of materials using GC, SEM, EDS,
AFM, ToF-SIMS, UV, X-ray Diffraction, Dynamic Light Scattering, Dynamic Wetting
Analysis, BET Surface Measurement.
Adept in structure-property relationships of materials, research experiments design,
and equipment assembly.
Collaborate with industry (General Motors Corporation) to develop coatings applied
on PEM fuel cell bipolar plates.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Research Assistant 09/2005~present
University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH
Design and layer-by-layer (LBL) assemble of multi-functional thin films for PEM Fuel
Cell bipolar plate application.
De-convolute the effects of surface chemistry on surface wetting according to
theoretical models (Johnson-Dettre, Cassie and Wenzel models), and effects of thin
films nanostructure on the surface contact resistance.
Stabilize colloid suspensions by using polyols. Systematically investigate the change
of particle zeta-potential by varying pHs, alcohol types and contents.
Research on LBL assembly kinetics for silica nanoparticle arrays under different
colloidal suspension chemistry.
Design and prepare graphite/silica composite thin films with multi-dimensional
structures in nano-scale.
Synthesize various mesoporous materials (ZSM-12, SBA-15 and MCM-41) through
sol-gel process as highly shape-selective catalysts.
Process Engineer 04/2004~08/2005
Yanfeng Visteon Automotive Trim Systems Co. Ltd., Shanghai, China
Managed vacuum-forming process for top door trim of Buick (GM). Product scrap
rate decreased from 7% to 0.6% by modifying the mould.
Managed vacuum-forming process for B and CD pillars of Santana (VW). Led a
change of material feeding model for this process and coordinated engineers from
different departments. Materials were saved up to 5% after this modification.
Implemented the trial production (vacuum-forming process part) for instrumental
panel of Mazda 3 (Mazda).
Monitored slush-molding process for instrumental panel skin of Passat (VW).

Research Assistant 09/2001~03/2004
East China University of Science and Technology, Shanghai, China
Synthesized fluorinated copolymers containing sulfonic groups by atom transfer
radical polymerization (ATRP).
Examined surface properties of the films prepared from these novel copolymers.
Studied solution performance of these block copolymers in both organic and
inorganic media.
Applied the fluorinated copolymers to PUA coating to improve water resistance. The
water absorption ratio of the modified PUA films dropped 60%.
OTHER EXPERIENCE
Assistant Lab Supervisor 03/2006~02/2007
University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH
Supervised the experimental instruments involved in chemical engineering, and
trained TAs and undergraduates.
Developed new experiments (PEM fuel cell, solar cell, gas membrane separation).
Designed and assembled experiment equipments.
Demonstrated and explained experiments involved new energy (fuel cells, solar cell)
to visitors.
