Promoted to direct development and implementation projects for NPI capital

investment for supply chain optimization and manufacturing, process

improvements, cost reductions, working with cross-functional team of supply chain,

operations, process engineering, design engineering and quality. Presented detailed

project summaries to senior level management and post implementation analyses to

determine areas for continuous improvements.

• SUPPLY CHAIN OPTIMIZATION PROJECT FOR MOTOR GRADER

NPI: Spearheaded development and implementation of a supply chain

optimization system for a motor grader NPI. Scope of projects including new

supplier identification, Material replenishment collaboration, distribution center

and supermarket implementation. Estimated value of project is 4.5 million dollars

with expected ROR of 38% in the first year.

• NEW MACHINING CAPACITY CAPITAL INVESTMENT PROJECT:

Spearheaded Implementation of new machining cells in various product sections

to create a synchronized workflow between 13 machining cells/sections and

eliminating non-value added activities. Scope of project including increasing

machining capacity to meet the increasing demand and updating the existing

machining equipment. Estimated value of project is 3.3 million dollars with

expected ROR of 18% in the first year.

• SUB TEAM LEADER FOR MOTOR GRADER NPI PROJECT

(DECATUR): As vital member of a six-sigma team who is responsible in creating a

new assembly line (33 Mil) for M-series Motor Grader, spearheaded the team as a

Green Belt lead project leader in defining and implementing the supply chain's role in

getting the "Right part, right time at right place" to the M-series production line.

Major scope of this project is to establishing the supermarket and defining the

replenishment trigger for both PF supermarket and ILC material, defining new

strategic drop zone on assembly and fabrication line and DITS train route and

capacity for the assembly operation.

• NEW MACHINING CAPACITY PROJECT (JOLIET): Spearheading a project

of new Lathe machining capacity planning to support the growing demand in the

trucks value stream in Joliet and also focusing on reducing the subcontract work done

outside. Scope of project focusing on 3 new machines purchase worth 3.3 million

dollars that will be installed with completed run-off in-house according to the

corporate APQP guidelines and upgrade of existing machines. Scope also includes

bringing back the subcontracted machining work that will generate average 4 million

dollar in saving per year.

• NEW PAINT & TESTSYSTEM CAPITAL INVESTMENT PROJECT:

Project manager for new paint & Transmission testing system valued at 6 million

dollars for the transmission manufacturing facility that will be capable to paint

60000 transmissions annually by 2012. This new painting system will boost the

production capacity to additional 42000 units from the existing volume of 28000

annually, which estimated ROR of 48% in the first year of fully operational.

• MATERIALS MANAGEMENT: A member in a team of 6 Engineers working

towards improving and updating the materials management system by

implementation of new materials management software that helped create a effective

and synchronized material flow to manufacturing floor from warehouse.

• LEAN MANUFACTURING: Improving the existing workflow process and

implementing the Lean Manufacturing principles such as JIT, FMEA, Kanban, Value

Stream Mapping, 5S and Line Balancing for recognized bottleneck stations. Resulted

in 33% reduction of breakdown rate in assembly line and significant increase in

workers morale are noted through productivity increase and survey.

• PROCESS DOCUMENTATION: Created standard work documentation for

operation procedures at the materials distribution center. This initiative helped this

distribution supermarket to receive the MQ13005 corporate certification, equivalent

to ISO9000, under Caterpillar.

• PROCESS IMPROVEMENT: Conducted time studies for operations. The

potential stations where the mast options could be included were identified and

implemented at the assembly line. Reimplementation of safety guidelines in the shop

floor to increase the awareness among the work force on the shop floor based on

OSHA guidelines.
