DEALT WITH UNEXPECTED & CRITICAL SITUATIONS

• Researched and evaluated alternatives when standard foreign language translation process

would delay overseas shipping of machines. Resulted in manuals being available with

machines to ship on time, meeting a company quality and ISO9000 requirements.

• Managed a project to evaluate a material change by a supplier that was needed to address a

serious field issue. Resulted in quicker approval of change than through standard methods.

LEAD PEOPLE

• Structured and developed process for documentation standardization team within test

engineering department within the ISO9000 quality system. Resulted in more efficiency in

test department documentation, and better understanding of department processes and

ISO9000 requirements.

• Managed the engineering lab team and UAW technicians in understanding and

developing standard quality test processes to meet the ISO9000 requirement. Resulted in

more efficient process, better communications, and reduced repeat testing.

MANAGED PROJECTS

• Evaluated, designed, and implemented a testing program for an unapproved supplier that

had a unique product that was needed in our machines. Resulted in the product being

improved to meet our specifications and approved for use without going through the lengthy

design change process that would have been required with another supplier.. The supplier

subsequently became an approved supplier

• Managed a project using inexperienced “co-op” engineers (interns) to evaluate machines.

Resulted in evaluation completion earlier than estimated and at lower cost.

NEGOTIATED

• Negotiated with program management and supplier when supplier’s product did not meet

quality standards. Resulted in earlier release of machine option with the supplier’s product,

as well as a supplier agreement to improve product quality, saving time and money.

• Negotiated with supplier and program management for payment of supplier cost for re-

engineering of product to improve quality. Resulted in cost savings of over $100K in

internal re-engineering that would have been necessary to change suppliers.

MOTIVATED OTHERS

• Managed and facilitated meetings of the documentation standards team of the electrical test

engineering department to build understanding of the process and benefits. Resulted in more

consistent documentation and more efficient use of engineering time.

• Coached new engineer on the unwritten rules and standard processes within the company.

Resulted in the engineer not being terminated and becoming a valued member of the

electrical test engineering team.

• Trained test engineering department on the use of new Internet database program for the

storing and retention of test documentation and results required to meet ISO9000

requirement. Resulted in the department being better prepared for the change and more

efficient when the change was implemented.

• Trained electrical test engineers in the use of new templates and documentation. Resulted in

more efficient process, reduced time spent on documentation for the quality system.

TEAM BUILDING

• Managed and facilitated meetings between engineering and supplier teams that previously

had no standard process for working together, including lunch with open discussions of

Deere and ISO9000 quality requirements. Resulted in the development of an engineering/

supplier team that became more efficient.

and under budget. Resulted in more projects meeting schedule and budget.
