Responsible for self-insured workers’ compensation program for employee base of

1500+; $10MM outstanding reserves and 150 open claims. Directly responsible for

vendor management of third party administrator, Liberty Mutual. Perform generalists’

duties in staffing, organizational development, and safety and security. Supervise Plant

Medical staff of (4) nurses, (1) Company physician (1) Benefits Administrator; and full

Security staff.

Developed and implemented “official” Return to Work Program.

Human Resources Manager / Chilpaco Operations. / 2003 to 2008

Provided HR Management responsibilities to 275 union hourly employees of Chilpaco

Mill through a collaborative and interest-based approach. Responsibilities included:

contract interpretation, labor relations, performance management, and staffing. Oversaw

workers’ compensation and employee benefits programs for the Ohio Operations

consisting of 1700 employees. Directly supervised a staff of two assistants.

Accomplishments:

Identified 50% cost savings through re-negotiation of unemployment vendor in

2007.

Consolidated EAP vendors to one common vendor for Glatfelter, resulting in an

annual savings of $10K per year.

Replaced workers’ compensation vendor for a savings of $93K per year.

Participated in labor agreement negotiations successfully resulting in a 3 year

agreement.

Fully designed and implemented new process for disability retirement.

Managed the grievance activity to lowest levels through collaborative and interest

based approach.

Designed performance management training modules for Ohio operations in

2005.

Through a collaborative approach, facilitated layoff of hourly employees with

creative outplacement features.
