Corporate Safety Director

Snider Tire, Greensboro, NC (06/04-10/08)

A large truck tire re-tread manufacturer with 30 locations in 8 states. Seven locations are re-

treading facilities, and the remaining locations provide road and fleet services to the trucking

industry. Snider has approx. 500 employees, and a fleet of approximately 20 tractor trailers,

15 large box trucks, and 75+ commercial service vehicles.

Responsibilities include:

A new position tasked with safety program development, the writing of new procedures,

addressing regulatory issues, workers compensation administration and back-to-work program

development, accident investigation, inspections, and advising senior management on

safety/workers compensation matters materially affecting the Company.

Lowered experience modification rate in the last year from 1.36 to 1.24.

Workers compensation losses were lowered by 20% in 2006. Lowered frequency of auto

claims by 35%. Successfully lobbied management in 2006 to go to a low-end deductible for

the first time, so that premium expenses would be lowered. Went to high end deductible in

2007 for WC. Saved $200,000 + in premiums in 2007.

Safety Manager

C-E Mineral / MULCO, Andersonville, GA. (3/95 – 11/03)

A kaolin clay producer, with three manufacturing plants and numerous mine sites (200 - 250

employees).

Responsibilities included:

Conducting inspections and audits to achieve compliance with Federal Laws through

MSHA – Mine Safety Health Administration.

Overseeing and writing company policy and programs to comply with Federal

Government Regulations – Coordinated a New Industrial Hygiene Program.

Managing Workers Compensation Program through T.P.A. – Reduced WC costs an

average of 10 – 15% from 1995 – 2001, and 35% reduction in 2002.

Handling all litigation involving Workers Compensation and Property Insurance.

Overseeing safety procedures at company’s 4 mine locations – Accidents/ Injuries were

reduced by 30% over the past 6 years.

Initiated a New PPE Program plant-wide resulting in injury frequency reduction by

40% in the first year.

Managing the company’s No-Tolerance Drug & Alcohol Policy.

Investigating any and all accidents, injuries and near misses.

Safety Consultant for all company locations and departments.

Responsible for various types of trucks & equipment used in the cementing and fracturing of

oil and gas wells. Responsibilities included; driving, operation and maintenance of all trucks,

pumps and equipment. Was chosen to participate in numerous operator schools and was an

active member of the company safety committee. Worked 8 years accident and injury free.
