Work Experience

Sept 2002-Sept 2003 Well site geologist

Working in oil rigs offshore for the exploration department at Petrobras in

prospects related to Santos, Campos and Espirito Santo basins, southeast of

Brazil.

Sept 2003-Dec 2006 Petrophysicist/Rockphysicist and geopressure analysis

Part of the exploration technical support team for prospects in all off-shore

brazilian basins and also formation evaluation after and real time drilling

processes.

Formation Evaluation and petrophysical reevaluation for new prospects

Geopressure modeling for the new frontier pre-salt prospects and support for

engineering analysis and effective total cost for drilling.

Responsible for reevaluate and validate the regional petrophysical analysis in

Pelotas basin.

Part in the first (and others) pre-salt oil prospect in Santos basin, called TUPI,

which alone resulted in a discovery of probable 8 billions BOE, which changed the

brazilian geopolitical panorama.

The rock physics studies and Simultaneous Seismic Inversion process were

carried by a first DHI group ever created at Petrobras and included several works

with conventional, shaly and tight-gas sandstones as well as carbonates in Santos,

Campos and Espirito Santos Basin, and anomalous pressured reservoirs in

Espirito Santo, Foz do Amazonas, Potiguar, Golf of Mexico, Niger and Iran

offshore basins. Geological modelling took part mainly to build lithological cubes as

well as porosity and neural network facies classification by using PETREL.

Schlumberger Public

Responsible for the SIGEO support and courses, an in-house Petrobras software

for database management and interface through several multi-task Tools. The

main applicatives: Multi-Well analysis, geological interpretation – INTERAGE -,

GRID generation, Well log composites, AVO analysis,

Complete translation portugues-english for INTERAGE-SIGEO applicative when

implemented at Petrobras America (PAI),

Responsible for the Interactive Petrophysics basic software course at Petrobras as

part of the Petrobras University general curriculum. Also this course was

ministered during the Reservoir Geologists Formation Course in Ouro Preto, Sao

Paulo), and also during the Petrophysicists formation Course in Ouro

Preto/Campinas. In Petrobras office in Houston (PAI), this course was ministered

along with another course “Practices in Rock Physics”.

Contributions with internal papers in Petrobras meetings related to exploration

frontiers, formation evaluation, geophysics and sedimentology.

Petrobras coordinator of a Multi-client Formation Evaluation Project with University

of Texas.

Dec 2006-Oct 2008 Interpreter geologist in Santos Basin Exploration Group

Several geological mapping by using PETREL.

Four Simultaneous Seismic Inversion processes developed (ISIS, Odegaard,

Schlumberger software) concluded for Tambau-Urugua, Pirapitanga, Tambuata

and Carapia oil and gas fields and also volumes regeneration after new well

conclusions. Main outputs created were Acoustic Impedance, Vp/Vs and Density

volumes as primitives. The derivatives from these volumes were Poisson ratio, AI-

IS (acoustic impedance minus shear impedance), lambda.RHO, Mu.RHO, lambda/

Mu, Young constant volumes. All this material were included in the Petrobras

database and available for anyone with access to the system (Santos and Rio de

Janeiro mainly)

Support for all geophysical processing that took part in Santos unit, providing in -

puts and directions for conductiong TaoZo, PSDM, PSTM and ITERDEC pro-

cesses.

Formation evaluation of all wells being drilled by Santos Petrobras unit. ELAN

creation and Netpay definition. Special studies like electrical anisotropy provided

important increment in Netpay (above 100% in one single case), proved by

formation test conducted only from this study.

Intense participation in well drilling operations from the office: RFT real time

evaluation, formation test, checkshot targets definition, sampling, geosteering, etc.

Geopressure analysis mainly in the anomalous area of the Mexilhao gas field and

others prospect related.

Responsible for the igneous rocks analysis in Santos and other basins in the

Petrobras Research center in Rio de Janeiro. This study involved geochemistry,

geochronology, geomechanical analysis and thin section description of igneous

rocks sampled in the wells as well as correlation with analogs from samples

obtained in outcrops in geological field trips in Brazil.

Jan 2009-July 2009 Reservoir Modeling group (Currently working at Schlumberger as Senior Geologist,

Technical Consultant, International Mobile, Ciudad-del-Carmen, Mexico)

Supporting Interactive Petrophysics software at PEMEX oil company

Member of a DHI (Direct Hydrocarbon Indicator) evaluation group involved with

Simultaneous Seismic Inversion, supporting with well logs corrections, fluid

substitution and final interpretation using Interactive Petrophysics and Petrel

Schlumberger software

Reservoir Modeling member for the largest Mexican oilfield Cantarell, involved with

58 new well proposals for this area. The main activities are geological, geophysical

and production data integration, 3D GRID construction, properties and facies

generation from multi-attributes analysis and geostatistical methods application.
