The Reynolds and Reynolds Company – Dayton, OH 2006-2009

Founded in 1866 as a business forms printing company; Reynolds and Reynolds started serving automotive dealers in

1927. Today Reynolds’ 6,000 employees nationwide provide technology solutions for automotive retailers in over

10,000 dealerships within North America.

Data Security Manager

Faced with a series of dangerous data breach incidents in late 2006, I championed a program of effort to defend

customer data security and legislative interests through use of systems that maintain system integrity,

information confidentiality, and information availability.

In 2006, in an effort to eliminate failure rates and numerous bug fixes, I engaged with IBM Global Services to

train and deploy Rational Unified Process (RUP) for the software organization and provided direction for the use

of system integration components within a Service Oriented Architecture.

After analysis of the expensive helpdesk method of remote access via analog dial-up modem, I devised and

designed a project roadmap for 17 distinct workstreams aimed at eliminating the modems and slashing costs.

o By September 2007 my project team successfully deployed a cutting-edge SSL/SSH tool that provided

remote access for 350 support analysts in Dayton, OH to access each remote server installation

o Exceeded personal performance objectives by also eliminating security risks and enabling future

deployment of cutting-edge technologies based over this new secure IP communications.

o Project team exceeded team performance objectives by providing a 2007 cost reduction of $1.3M and

2008 by $368K.

Due to the sometimes sensitive and always sizable projects I engaged in, I provided regular communication of

the technology strategy to Reynolds C-level executives and customers through technical whitepapers, press

releases, and national sales calls.

During security incidents and breaches, I performed the initial analysis and categorization, dealt with state and

federal authorities, and provided investigative materials when under subpoena to state district attorneys and

federal officials.

Based on the number and severity of US data security incidents in early 2007, AICPA requested guidance from

Reynolds for the automotive industry. In response to their request, I published a data security risk analysis

whitepaper which was presented during the 2007 national AICPA conference.

Electronic Data Systems (EDS) – Plano, TX 1998-2006

Founded in 1962, EDS has evolved from a $1,000 investment into a $20+ billion technology services industry leader.

EDS, an HP company, is a leading global technology services provider delivering business solutions to its clients. As a

business unit of HP’s Technology Solutions Group, EDS delivers one of the industry’s broadest portfolios of

information technology, applications and business process outsourcing services to clients around the world.

Senior Program Manager

As Deployment Lead for the Americas – Managed the Program Management Office (PMO) supporting Canada,

U.S., and Latin America, with one direct report (senior project manager), seven indirect project reports (project

managers), and 72 indirect technical and administrative staff.

When challenged with the delivery of an enterprise solution that would eliminate the costly and umanagable

heterogenous technology environment in the 30 data centers in the Americas I acted as Solution Architect for a

Network and Server mesh design thatwould eventually provided the basis for EDS’ grid computing

o Provided $4.3 million in technology support savings in one year

o Laid the technology groundwork to centrally monitor and maintain a “world” of technology assets

When the midrange solutions team was faced with increased cost and decreased value propositions for our

customers, I was part of a large “best shore” deployment team that hired, trained and deployed technology and

help desk/support teams to Mumbai India and Sao Paulo Brazil

o This effort generated technology support savings of $30 million in labor arbitrage

While a part of the Project Management Delivery organization, I was trained to execute strong project and

quality management disciplines such as iQMS 9000, Six Sigma, PM2, ITIL framework, ICTIM, SCRUM and GM

PMD

Between 2003 and 2005, delivered creative technology redesign projects for the EDS Credit Union and the U.S.

Department of Education

o I was personally recognized by leaders of both organizations as a “significant contributor” to their

technology and financial success.

o The “value” delivered to these customers was rewarded with lengthy contract renewals

As a reflection of my years of high performance, In November of 2002 I was awarded the most distinguished EDS

“Cat Herder” award

o This award was in recognition of the high levels of technical, project, and client management expertise

expressed that year.

o Only 4 such awards were ever distributed by the PMD organization
