Superintendent for a $320M, 428,000sf, LEED Platinum commodities trading center with a diverse scope
of responsibility. Initially hired to manage and close QA/QC field/deficiency reports; rapidly
promoted through a series of increasingly responsible positions.
• Managed the foundation of a 1,800 space, pre-cast garage including underground utilities and
structural footings.
• Supervised the night erection of curtain wall and a 400,000 gallon cooling tower.
• Coordinated construction of a pressurized flooring systems mockup.
• Supervised two onsite assistant superintendents for compliance with all RFI’s, Bulletins, RFP,
submittals, shop drawings, inspections, as-built documentation, and closeout processes.
• Coordinated the vast MEP under floor installations, inspections, and cleanings.
• Implemented lessons learned from systems mockup; safely increased workflow, regaining the month
lost from damage caused by Hurricane Ike, reducing the schedule by 60 days, and saving the owner
an estimated $1M.
• Sequenced the under floor pressure tests using the permanent air highways and air handler units to
minimize material waste; saved an estimated $50,000 and reduced the schedule.
• Exceeded owner expectations by providing a flooring system with a 13% leakage rate instead of the
specified 15%.
• Developed/enforced measures such as designated cutting rooms and maintained immaculate
housekeeping, to ensure a LEED Platinum Certification.
• Worked directly with Architects, Engineers, Inspectors, and Consultants, focusing on value
engineering and discrepancy coordination/resolution; negotiated 1200+ change orders, totaling $80M.
• Perfected communication skills and public speaking; hosted morning safety meetings, daily
Simultaneous Operations meetings, produced/updated meeting minutes and led weekly
Subcontractors meetings.
JBM Builders-Fort Worth, TX Fort Worth National Bank 08/2006-05/2007
Superintendent -- managed construction of a $1.5M, 6,400sqft bank, including pre-construction activities,
site preparation, estimating, and closeout.
• Responsible for specifications and drawings, conducting take offs, soliciting bids from
subcontractors, developing bid comparison sheets, buy out, and production reports.
• Developed the master schedule and produced/updated look ahead’s.
• Saved owner $30,000 by negotiating changes in the field and used my vast hands-on construction
trades experience to self-perform gaps in scope.
• Completed project on time and under budget despite permitting/inspection complications.
• Bank constructed on a 1.3 acre site adjacent to an operating Wal-Mart. All work had to be done
without disrupting Wal-Mart’s business.
Turner Construction Company, Dallas, TX Educational Buildings – DFW area 04/2005-08/2006
As Field Engineer, simultaneously closed 5 school projects: 3 elementary schools, a HS football stadium,
and a Ninth Grade Center. As Assistant Superintendent, managed the punch list for 2 elementary schools.
• Worked on multiple bid teams – studied all specifications and drawings, developed bid comparison
sheets for assigned divisions, and obtained, analyzed, and reported numbers used in the bid package.
• Managed completion of an 8,000 item punch list at a 250,000 sq. ft. school building – negotiated
rework with subcontractors, contacted manufacturers regarding warranty repairs, performed all work
so as not to disrupt normal school operations.
• Coordinated/Scheduled meetings and operations reviews with owners, architects, engineers,
contractors, manufacturers, vendors, subcontractors and various consultants.
• Resolved issues pertaining to non-compliance -- fire protection systems, structural issues, MEP, and
TAS issues. Researched various testing means/methods (destructive and non-destructive) and
implemented appropriate process to verify cause of non-compliance.
• Prepared project closeout documents -- final drawings, posting RFI’s, ASI’s, PC’s, etc., reviewed
existing documents and obtained missing As-Built, submittals, warranty letters and various
certifications as required by the contract.
