Professional Wild West Oilfield Services –Craig Colorado 10/2008 to Current

experience Foreman, Heavy Equipment Operator, Roustabout, Supervisor

I assist in oil and gas well, separator, tank, and compressor hookups. I pipe fit, cut threads, fuse

polyurethane pipe, and assist in welding pipe line. I use many hand and electrical tools on a daily

basis, often working a 12-16 hour day or more. I operate heavy equipment including backhoes, D9

Dozer, Road Grader and a large track hoe. Moreover, I keep hired labors on task and insure they

complete their job aiming for quality work in a timely fashion. I keep an eye on many crews

watching for safety hazards, alcohol and drug abuse and report my discovery. I handle a lot of

personal relations with other business owners, local ranchers and city officials. Wild West Oil Field

is owned and operated by my brother Carl Colby. He needed someone trustworthy and honest to

help him out in his ten year old business because honest and hard working hands are hard to come

by. Carl also acting as a close relative and best friend, I could not say no to his offer. I like what I do

for Wild West but I want to keep my options open and I really prefer to work locally to be close to

my family.

Affordable Bookkeeping & Tax Service –Grand Junction 4/2004 to

Current

Computer Support, Network Engineer, Help Desk

ABTS is an accounting firm owned and operated by my wife Tanya. I am not a paid employee of the

7 other employees, but my involvement with ABTS can not be overlooked. I manage 8 of the

company’s computers and two servers. Most of the computer management and support I do

remotely. I provide helpdesk support with screen sharing sessions, onsite service, repairs,

preventative maintenance, backup data, and server and network management. I built the ABTS

network and server. I ran network cabling, terminated ends, installed network switches, a Cisco Pix

501, and implemented wireless networking. To help insure the network operates smoothly, a

managed service is installed. The managed service pages me if any faults or issues occur in the

network or servers minimizing ABTS down time to near zero. This puts me in an “on call” status

24/7, but is valuable because this helps me insure the network runs efficiently in turn, minimizing

down time so employees can work productively and Tanya can maximize employee utilization per

hour paid.

A newly added second ABTS server is at my home office. It is a secure FTP redundant backup

server and it mirrors ABTS’ client data over the internet every night. This FTP backup server I

couldn’t manage with out the prior knowledge I gained from when I managed the Enveloc Backup

Server at Western Slope Networks Unlimited. Except this FTP Server I built from the ground up.

Whereas, the Enveloc Server was already in place.

Jobsite, Inc. – Grand Junction September 2008

IT, User Support Network Engineer, and Help Desk

Jobsite, Inc. is production company that manufactures hydraulic machines that are sold world wide.

These machines bend metal into general construction materials use in housing and buildings. I was

employed as the company’s only IT Support personnel and it was solely up to me to solve the

company’s IT related issues and resolve them to resolution. I managed 4 Windows based Servers,

34 Windows XP Workstations, a Cisco Firewall, wireless setups, general computer repair, and I was

in charge of email account modifications. I monitored daily Veritas backups and troubleshot backup

errors, if any, making sure files were backed up as well as doing file restores when required. I helped

users when needed, most often dropping my task at hand to help the user so they could stay

productive for Jobsite. I helped users with Windows XP, Microsoft Office, printing, and Jobsite’s

custom software named Vantage. During my short time at Jobsite, I was handed the company’s

network. I performed a network assessment and became familiar with the entire network and I

discovered existing faults and issues. I resolved the issues professionally prior my resignation.

I was employed at Jobsite for a shirt time. I resigned because the owner of the company has rage

issues resulting in demeaning yelling at all his. This was difficult to work with on a daily basis. I

formally resigned and left the company on good terms.

I provided help desk and on-site support for many large companies where high professionalism was

required. I troubleshot networking, email, diversified software, and hardware issues. I coordinated

provided on-site computer installations, wired and wireless network setups, troubleshooting

hardware and software, including mal-ware problems. I was directly in charge of St. Mary’s Hospital

HP Printer, HP desktop and Notebook repair as well as all warranty claims. I also repaired a wide

brand of notebooks and desktop systems belonging to clients, including resolution of warranty

repairs on HP, Dell, and Gateway brands among others. Due to the wide diversity of clients and

applications, I used a variety of troubleshooting techniques in order to help users quickly and

efficiently. Additionally, I was the head engineer for NU’s Enveloc Server that remotely backs up

users’ data over the internet. I was in direct charge of sixty-three customers and insured their data

was properly backed up. I trained other employees how to utilize and troubleshoot the Enveloc

Server, and created a how-to manual for others to refer to, even though I received no professional

training or schooling with Enveloc.

possible remedies would help them best.

Management – I have often made difficult decisions to ensure the future success and financial

growth of my company. I created this company from the ground up, and I managed a staff of one

to five technicians, and provided their training. I made a goal to have extraordinary

professionalism in how my retail store was presented to the public and on my personal appearance

as well as that of my employees.

Education Olsen Carriage and Harness 1/2008 and

3/2008

Black Forest, Colorado

40+ hours of professional training in horse drawn carriages and vehicles. School was hands-on

experience, working with draft horses and driving everything from a single draft to a team of horses

with carts, wagons, sleighs, and farm implements. Schooling included harnessing and fitting,

training, ground work, safety, and driving.

I have purchased my own draft horse from Olson Carriage and provide horse drawn carriage services

at weddings and other events, even in downtown Grand Junction events. I constantly train, and work

with my draft to keep him in shape and ready for any oncoming event. Perhaps my horse drawn

carriage company should be under the employment heading of this resume because lately, it has been

a 20-30 hour a week job. My “once a hobby”, is now a small business, Black Ridge Carriage

Company. I’ve been providing services through out Grand Junction for nearly two years now and

even have a small contract at Powder Horn Ski Resort and I’m aiming for more contracts with local

wedding facilities and hopefully advertising contracts. The uniqueness of Black Ridge Carriage

Company has made my business thrive because a Horse Drawn Service can be desirable at many

events.
