EXPERIENCE

EDISON MISSION ENERGY/ MIDWEST GENERATION, Chicago, Illinois 2008 to 2009

Power generation corporation including fossil fuel, wind, and solar.

Senior Logistics Specialist Support of the fossil fuel fleet and the extension of SAP, SCM and EAM

modules, to commissioned wind turbine generation projects.

• Identified a cost savings opportunity in freight transportation. Initiated, published and evaluated a

RFP that identifies a third part provider that provides superior customer service and lower cost:

Result: $360,000 yearly cost savings.

• Established the pilot program to extend SAP, SCM and EAM modules, to commissioned wind

projects that will be the basis for the balance of the wind fleet.

• Initiated the search for a maintenance provider to provide operations and maintenance support to

wind turbine generators that were coming off warranty. Identified the low cost provider which

resulted in a decision to perform in-house maintenance. Result: Avoidance of $500,000 cost for

third party operations and maintenance.

• Assembled parts lists for all the wind turbine generators, sourced the parts and initiated purchase

of the major components. Result: Potential savings of 20% on major components and initials parts

acquisition.

• Developed multiple initiatives and RFQ’s that identified service providers for cranes, climb assist

equipment, heavy haul transportation and maintenance providers for the wind fleet.

• Experienced with O&M for Zond, Micon, Vestas, Suzlon and Yankee Clipper Wind Turbine

Generators. Developed the maintenance solution for the Pipestone Minnesota fleet.

• Developed a report from SAP that identified missed vendor discounts and the causes. Result:

Captured $40,000 in missed discounts

EAGLE GLOBAL LOGISTICS/CEVA LOGISTICS, Bolingbrook, Illinois 2007 to 2008

International logistics and transportation provider

General Manager. Dressta North American Parts Operation, Reported to the Regional Director for the

operations of a parts distribution for tractor parts and Wind Turbine Generator parts

• Responsible for the Budget (In excess of $1,000,000) and Profit & Loss for two facilities

• Turned around a logistics solution for a distributor, importer and exporter of tractor parts from a

monthly five figure loss to a profit. Result: $11,000 in profit versus $17,000 loss.

• Increased inventory accuracy from 94% to 99.997%. Result: Reduction in write offs and

greater parts availability.

• Decreased shipping errors from 91% accuracy to 99.999%.

• Restaffed and developed a cost efficient, effective team that the customer recognized as one of

the most positive aspects of the organization.

• Reduced import and export costs, transit times and improved service levels.

• Implemented three (3) LEAN initiatives for three different accounts that applied LEAN/ 5S

principles to identify cost savings and process improvements.

• Developed the basis for, and implemented two (2) WMS solutions/systems for new customers.

Transitional Operations Manager. Reported to CEO and owner for Canadian operations.

• Re-organized and restaffed two Canadian operations to follow a business model developed by

the owner of the company: Result: Reduction of personnel, standardization of the operating

activities to facilitate centralized management, stabilization of two facilities and a savings of

$70,000.

• Developed work instructions for activities that support a centralized management system

originated by the owner of the company. Tested and applied the work instructions in the field.

Result: A standardized operation followed exactly in two different facilities that allows

centralized management and control.

KUEHNE-NAGEL Inc. Alsip, Illinois 2004 to 2005

One of the world’s leading logistics groups.

Operations Manager, Contract, Operation of a 372,000 square foot shared distribution center and a

60,000 square foot off-site facility.

• Successfully transitioned two new customers into 150,000 square feet while maintaining superior

customer service for thirty (30) other customers. Result: Reversal of a $152,000 monthly loss to a

$50,000 monthly net profit.

CONTINENTAL GLASS and PLASTIC Inc., Chicago, Illinois 1998 to 2004

The second largest distributor of rigid packaging in the Midwest.

Director of Operations. Reported to the Chief Financial Officer for all logistics operations for a $100

Million distribution company.

• Budgetary ($5,000,000+) and Profit & Loss responsibility for the Logistics Solution.

• Successfully restructured the transportation program to eliminate a $100,000 loss and improved

customer delivery to less than 24 hours. Result: $100,000 savings.

• Designed and published multiple Requests For Proposal resulting in third party logistics

solutions for warehousing and transportation needs in the Midwest. Net Result: Yearly savings of

over $250,000.

• Eliminated a high cost and high maintenance facility and replaced it with a lower cost third party

logistics solution. Result: $98,000 savings.

• Strategic member of the selection, development and implementation team for a new $450,000

software solution for a year 2000 compliant distribution/ WMS/ERP system.

• Redesigned the secondary assembly operations increasing efficiency, decreasing costs by 40%,

increasing accuracy and shortening lead-times from two weeks to four days. Result: Savings of

$65,000 per year.

• Developed daily reports and metrics that measured the performance of the distribution network

and supply chain.

A third party logistics and warehousing corporation dealing extensively with the paper industry, food

containers and other public warehousing products.

Warehouse Manager. Reported to the company president for the start-up and operation of a new 576,000

sq. ft. warehouse and while managing a 372,580 sq ft warehouse. Responsibilities including staffing, lay-

out, training, safety and profitability.

• Budgetary ($4,300,000) and Profit & Loss responsibilities for two “big box distribution centers.

• Completed SAP basic training, brought SAP on-line, and integrated it with WMS.

• Successfully consolidated two (2) diverse existing warehousing operations as a unified, operating

unit reducing operating costs for the customer by 40 %.

• Developed and implemented an operating plan for this new distribution center which included

warehouse layout, incorporation of radio frequency scanning, staffing, locator system and office

layout.

• Recruited, trained and hired a full staff including three (3) assistant managers, six (6)

supervisors, six (6) assistant supervisors, twelve (12) administrative assistants and ninety (90)

floor associates.

• Managed the operations of a contract warehouse achieving 10% profitability.

• Reduced operating costs by implementing a productivity tracking program which identified loss

areas, poor performance and opportunities for improvement.

• Managed a dedicated transportation fleet of 25 tractors and 40 trailers serving a major distributor

of paper products.
