NGVB (National Gene Vector Biorepository) is a resource by academic investigators and others

conducting gene therapy research. As part of the development team, I am involved in the J2EE

web application development and maintenance of web interfaces for the administrators and also

for the investigators to keep track of the samples archived. The implementation follows the MVC

design pattern, using the Struts Framework.

Instructor (fall 2008)

Taught a graduate course at IUPUI for the informatics department. This course introduced the

basic concepts of web development using PHP and MySQL.

NGVL Project – Dynamic Reporting

Created a dynamic web site with search capabilities on keywords given by the user and also

capable of interacting with a database and manage the contents of a course offered by the fac-

ulty. This project has a database driven authentication implemented and allows three different

types of users accessing the web site – students, faculty and administrator.

Data Mining - Mining unstructured data

Implemented the Apriori algorithm, which is by far the most well known association rule mining

algorithm. The Apriori algorithm was applied to a set of data that was obtained by applying the

transitive closure property among objects obtained from the scientific literature that is available

in the Medline database. The results from this project were used to uncover important data pat-

terns.

Web mining

Web mining project has been implemented to personalize and classify the web search results

into pre specified categories in order to facilitate users quick browsing through the search re-

sults. This increases the precision of web search. Nutch, an open-source Java implementation

of a search engine, has been used to provide the complete web search software.
