Professional Experience

Caterpillar Inc. - Heavy Manufacturing

Safety Associate – Peoria, IL October 2008- February 2009

Proactive Management: Developed interactive safety culture through positive attitudes and personal encouragement,

resulting in improved employee pride, behaviors, and safety performance levels.

SFMEA Lead: Performed Safety Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, risk management and assessment, action plans

for heavy manufacturing and high risk operations, including Forge, Heat Treat, Assembly, plus workstation redesign

and tooling revisions. Performed EHS review of new or modified processes and machine procedures.

Ergonomics: Performed full ergonomic evaluations using field data, NIOSH, Snook, 3D SSP analysis and employee

Standard Work Safety: Conducted Rapid Improvement Workshops to enhance worker safety, standardized safe work

procedures and eliminated potential hazards. Assessed proper PPE, Signage, Robotics Safety RIA, Lifting Devices, and

Ergonomic Program Lead: Implemented and managed ergonomic program for 1300 field technicians, utilizing

BREIF and NIOSH Lift. Introduced new ergonomic devices and recommended improvements for current field

applications. Performed ergonomic assessment of new product design NPI.

Incident Investigation: Performed Root Cause analysis, Causal factors, and abatement procedures. Implemented

Attack Team on open cases to reduce workers compensation costs and tracked EE progress.

EHS Audits and Reviews: Conducted Compliance Surveillance and reported on all aspects of EHS performance of

employees followed by recommendations for appropriate corrective action.

Compliance: Ensured mandatory compliance of OSHA standards, regulations and reporting; conducted compliance

and PPE training; inspected and tested PPE.

Accomplishments: Provided technical assistance and problem solving skills, making a profitable business

contribution, by reducing mandatory lift project budget by 64% with engineering redesign; initiated Ergo Cup project

and presentation, an awareness campaign; reviewed 48% of accident investigations for the year and determined
