two Oracle (NRG Barriers and US Steel) ERP implementations, with budgets up to $50 million

and project teams of up to 200 people.

• Led a variety of efforts to implement CRM systems, configure vendor packages, and build

custom software applications.

• Worked with outside design firm to generate alternatives and run focus group tests of new

website user interfaces.

Directed 25-person project team responsible for cleansing customer addresses at this Nationwide

Insurance division in order to comply with new postal regulations and retain $8.5 million in annual

postage discounts

Prepared budgets, project plans and resource plans.

ERIE INSURANCE, Erie, PA Sr. Project Manager 2008

Led 40-person project team charged with assessing & configuring a vendor’s integrated package to

replace a home-grown 25 year old policy management system at this large insurance company’s

headquarters. Also needed were a new user interface and 27 links to legacy systems.

Integrated Agile methodology practices, including scrum teams and daily standup meetings,

into the company’s standard waterfall development processes

Guided team by creating detailed project plans and budgets, adopting periodic gate reviews,

holding regular issue & risk management reviews, and emphasizing interim deliverables.

Defined improved and consistent processes by working with business analysts and executive

sponsors to first understand, then improve processes.

NATIONWIDE INSURANCE, Columbus, OH Sr. Project Manager 2007-2008

Focused on improving both the customer’s billing experience and the firm’s property & casualty

Directed 30-person cross-functional international project team as it redesigned billing website.

Brought a dormant project to life. Conducted “second half kickoff” and motivated/mentored

team members to successfully deliver five consecutive releases, one with over 25,000 lines of

code, on time and with virtually no defects.

Incorporated credible user inputs into website design by engaging an outside design firm to

setup and conduct focus group testing of alternative presentations.

Introduced the organization’s new Enterprise Systems Development Methodology,

incorporating regular gate reviews and defined interim work products. Instituted regular stage

gate reviews, risk reviews, project audits, and weekly status reporting.

Ensured that the best of “lessons learned” were applied by holding iterative post

implementation reviews.

Implemented the corporate strategy of consolidating disparate shop floor systems into a new custom-

built Oracle application at this Fortune 500 steel processor.

Managed a major and complex change initiative that was accomplished by a 200-person mixed

internal and Oracle offshore team on a 220,000 man-hour, $23 million project.

Focused on proactive user training programs to prepare them for the upcoming process
