SYSTEMS CONSULTANT (SHORT TERM ASSIGNMENT)

Consultant working with I.T. and Actuarial Department data analysts to migrate trend analysis and

reporting systems to NT server/windows environment. Identified process improvements increasing

project throughput. Worked with end users to improve data extraction and reporting processes.

LEAD INFORMATION ANALYST / SYSTEM CONSULTANT / SUPPORT TEAM LEADER (2005 to 2009)

Led capital project and lead analyst for implementation of Lubrizol’s Product Information

Management system using Microsoft’s .NET development platform (VB, JavaScript, ASP, and SQL

Server). Worked directly with core customers to understand, define, and document requirements of

the complex process of creating Industry and OEM product approvals for the Engine Oils segment.

The system increased productivity by 10% and decreased the time required to publish product

approvals, while ensuring full compliance with American Chemistry Council Product Approval Code

of Practice.

Handled ad-hoc data analysis and reporting requests for the global technical community, maximizing

over 20 years of chemical, formulation, and test results data to provide knowledge for data based

business decisions.

Provided system and customer support for hundreds of global users in multiple business segments.

Processes / systems supported include Chemical Material, Inventory, Shipping/Tracking, Test Results

Retrieval, Document Management, SharePoint collaboration sites and portals, and ASTM control

charting. Role included analysis of incidents reported directly or through Help Desk, providing

detailed specifications for several contractors assigned to incident resolution.

Provided guidance and advice on chemical / material definition, handling, and test results. Known as

“go to person” in Company’s I.S. support group for understanding business requirements and

Led Global Data Stewardship team initiatives to improve data quality, using metrics and reports to

identify issues to improve the process. Results provided accurate and consistent data, simplifying

systems development and reducing support time.

Member of the Corporate SharePoint team charged with infrastructure, development, and support

strategies to manage SharePoint for the global organization. Team developed strategic plans for

corporate portals and site structure to prevent site redundancy and proliferation, site request process

GROUP LEADER - R&D AND TESTING INFORMATION SOLUTIONS (2003 to 2005)

Managed staff of 6 to provide systems support for R&D and Testing divisions. Worked with division

management, providing cost benefit analysis and recommendations to effectively prioritize hundreds

of new project and system enhancement requests.

Recommended and implemented SAP interfaces, eliminating duplicate entry, time delays, and entry

errors for multiple processes, including new production products and Bill of Material updates.

Developed DownTreat application using VB6, ASP, VBScript, HTML, and SQL Server backend to

accept parameters to produce a lower treat rate product reports to meet older, obsolete specifications.

Migrated mainframe applications to NT servers for the mainframe decommissioning project.

SENIOR INFORMATION ANALYST (1996 to 2003)

Designed, implemented, and supported systems to manage the external testing process, including daily

scheduling, status, and test results reporting, resulting in the elimination of hundreds of data entry

hours per week. Analysis identified more process improvements, automating the generation of SAP

purchase orders and shipping information for external test scheduled, along with triggering the SAP

“goods receipts” process (invoice approval) when the test results were successfully uploaded and

available for reporting/retrieval.

Created a Global Data Stewardship team to standardize data capture, integrating technical centers in

N.A., Europe, and Asia. Efforts insured consistent global test definitions and data integrity, which

was essential for providing end users with accurate and standard test results reporting.

Served as ASTM Test Monitoring Center Data Communications Committee member responsible for

defining ASTM’s Electronic Test Results Transmission Model. Model was used to create standard

data dictionaries for test definitions, eliminating manual entry of external test results.

Automated entry of standard test definitions, using electronic data dictionaries supplied by ASTM’s

Test Monitoring Center (TMC).

Designed and developed first enterprise wide formulation and test results retrieval system.

Partnered with Corporate Statistical Services to implement Total Quality Management (TQM)

principals. Participated on QM process teams. Developed baseline and metric reports

Analyzed, designed and implemented SAS system to predict blend viscosities. Worked with PhD

chemist to automate the process for generating coefficients for predictions.

Implemented Similar Formulations Retrieval System, using past formulations and performance results

to reduce the time and costs for new product development.
