Director, Regional Operating Controller – Americas
Responsible for researching and evaluating the application of new and existing accounting guidance for
application to the accounting and reporting process. Month end closings for the Americas group which
includes U.S., Canada, Mexico and Brazil divisions. Monthly, quarterly, and annual Americas financia l
statement preparation including elimination entries. Maintain internal controls. Quarterly notes to the
financial statements for A/R reserves/bad debts and warranties. Managed a staff of 10 in the following
areas: General Accounting, Financial Reporting, AP, and Payroll.
Served as the area expert for the Oracle implementation project, working with the consulting team
to ensure all significant issues in regards to reporting and day to day functionality of the ERP
system were in alignment with stated go als of project. Managed project timeline for the area.
Researched and evaluated the application of new and existing accounting guidance for application

Ascendia Brands, a manufacturer and distributor of a diversified portfolio of branded health and beauty
care products with sales of $190M. They sold nationally and internationally through a variety of channels.
The company filed for bankruptcy under Chapter 11 in August 2008 and has since sold off all assets.
Controller
Directed financial accounting and reporting for $190 million public reporting company. Implemented
COSO framework for Control Activities, Information and Communication and Monitoring. Established
and maintained internal controls. 10K, 10Q, and internal GAAP financial reporting preparation. Research

Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream is a $2B division of Nestle, a manufacturer and distributor of ice cream and
frozen dessert product s. The Laurel plant has just completed a $250M expansion, which is the largest
single investment by Nestle. The expansion included adding 350 new permanent employees.
Plant Controller
Led the strategic planning of plant operations as a member of the Plant Leadership Team. Directed the
planning and implementation of finance and accounting department procedures and with all cost
accounting, cost estimating, overhead rate analysis and tracking, budgeting and variance reporting for a
$260M dollar budget. Maintain internal controls. Directed the accounting activities to ensure the
preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, the safeguarding of assets and asset control
functions. Oversaw t imely filing of government reporting. Weekly and monthly forecasts. Provided
guidance and support to senior staff.
Identified areas of exposure and standard costs errors by developing daily reporting that tracked
actual headcount (temp and full time) by line against standards. Actions were taken to resolve
over staffing and correct process for building 2008 standards identifying $2M in opportunities.
