Employment:
Construction Superintendent, Sept 2002- Feb 2009
Turner Construction Co., Seattle WA
I have 12 years’ construction experience, and 7 of those have been as a Superintendent. During my time as a
Superintendent, I have gained over several years of experience managing municipal government contracts.
While working as a Superintendent, I consistently had an outstanding rapport with the owner/client,
subcontractors and vendors. On the KCCF ISP Project, I was successful in keeping all subcontractor allowances,
materials and man hours under budget, which was crucial to keeping the project under budget. My role in
writing RFI’s assisted in making thousands of dollars on changes and extras. I possess outstanding scheduling
skills that allowed me to develop and maintain a job schedule, which was critical to making deadlines and
milestones. My ability to interpret specifications and examine blueprints facilitated in buying out projects and
ensuring jobs were constructed in accordance with design. Job safety is important to me and was key to having
no serious injuries on my projects. On the ISP project I developed a checklist to make certain that job tasks were
completed before inspection. This saved time in inspections, testing and punch list. I took the lead in working
closely with a subcontractor and owner on a very difficult elevator upgrade. I was successful in summarizing
progress to the owner and driving progression with the subcontractor. As a Superintendent, my ability to
prioritize, multi-task and oversee multiple projects was essential to maintaining deadlines and staying on
schedule. I am experienced in managing jobs in an occupied facility with sensitive surroundings. During the KCCF
ISP Project, I oversaw a couple of major shutdowns within the facility while occupied. These included shutting
off of the water to the entire facility and shutting down the electricity to the entire facility. I scheduled,
coordinated and supervised the shutdowns from start to finish with great success. I have been trained to be
very cost conscientious and to go the extra mile to ensure the job is completed on schedule and under budget.
As a Superintendent, I believe in leading by example. I have no problem working long hours and weekends, and I
will not hesitate to work with tools and my hand to assist in getting the job done. During my time with Turner,
I volunteered many personal hours to charity programs.
• My main responsibilities included overseeing and coordinating the entire project to make certain it was
constructed in accordance with the design and specifications. I was responsible for scheduling, managing
sub-contractors, scheduling deliveries, safety, being knowledgeable of specifications and prints, writing
RFI’s, budget of the project, managing the job from start up to close out, QA/QC, supervising on-site
staff and maintaining daily reports of job progress. Attended and facilitated
owner/architect/contractor meetings, subcontractor meetings, superintendent meetings, staff meetings
and safety meetings. Reviewed shop drawings and submittals. Coordinated permits and inspections.
