Interior Decorating and Styling/Staging - Consultant
Currently consulting for private residential clients on a variety of design choices for their
homes; both for newly constructed and remodels on existing homes. These projects
include making interior décor
selections for flooring, countertops, cabinets, fixtures, built-ins, builder’s options, paint
colors, furniture,
custom window coverings, bedding, and accessories. Also responsible for estimating
costs and ensuring that projects maintain their budgets. Acting as liaison and supervisor
for contractors and clients.
1995 – Present Design with Style, Reno, NV
Macy’s Furniture - Visual Display/Stylist - Independent Contractor
Twice yearly visual merchandising of eleven Macy’s Furniture showrooms throughout
Northern California and Nevada. Working closely with the Visual Managers, Store
Managers and Warehouse
Associates to implement floor moves and follow directives to support each season’s
merchandising standards. Following the Visual Manager’s directives by designing
vignettes to accentuate the
styles of various furnishings. This includes selecting appropriate bedding, mirrors, art,
lamps, rugs, accessories, and fully styling each showroom to establish individual lifestyle
looks. Participated in the original set-up and opening of the Reno and San Francisco
Flagship store.
2008 – 2009 Scheels All Sports Store, Sparks, NV
Visual Display/Merchandising
Met with the Managers in various women’s and men’s soft-line departments to discuss
their visual directives for the floor, as well as, seasonal or special sale needs. Selected
coordinated clothing and footwear ensembles according to Manager directives for
male and female mannequins. Dressed and styled mannequins. Designed creative
visual displays to reflect a number of lifestyle brands including Nike, Adidas, Champion,
Under Armour, North Face, Columbia, Roxy, Ed Hardy, Life is Good, and Ex Officio.
Participated in floor moves and fixture placement in different departments. Replenished
merchandise on the sales floor. Maintained an organized back stock area.
2005 – 2007 Design with Style, Reno, NV
Interior Decorating and Styling/Staging - Independent Contractor
Offered a complete range of interior decorating and staging services, specifically for
developers and builders model homes. Worked out all cost estimates for each project
and set guidelines in order to adhere to budget requirements. Services rendered
included; selecting all interior décor, such as carpet, tile, hardwood, and vinyl flooring;
also cabinets, countertops, appliances, fixtures, and paint color palettes to establish a
coordinated look for each model. Worked closely with the developer or builder and
various sub-contractors to assure that custom specifications for flooring, tile, built-ins, and
paint were followed thru. Selected and purchased all furniture, custom bedding,
lighting, mirrors, art, rugs, plants and accessories. Designed custom window coverings for
each model and supervised their manufacturing and installation. Organized and
coordinated all aspects of the actual installation process for each model. This included
supervising movers, furniture and rug placement, hanging art and mirrors, finishing beds,
and fully accessorizing and staging each entire model with items such as kitchenware,
dressed dining tables, linens, towels, tabletop items, floral arrangements and plants.
2004 – 2006 Ashley Home Store, Reno, NV
Visual Display Manager
Initially took part in organization, set up and visual merchandising for the opening of the
store. Interviewed and hired team members for the Visual Display department.
Managed four Visual Display employees and two Back Stock Assistants. Participated in
weekly meetings with the Sales, Accounting and Warehouse Managers to establish sales
and scheduling goals. Coordinated floor moves and changes to the sales floor.
Oversaw the visual team to ensure that displays were creative and in-store
signage/graphics effective. Implemented an organized system for the back stock area
so that accessories could be brought out to the floor in a timely manner. Attended the
wholesale furniture markets in San Francisco and Las Vegas to assist in selecting
accessories, art and mirrors for the store. Organized a number of special in-store events,
as well as, store sponsored community events.
1994 – 2004 Heinrich Design, Walnut Creek, CA
Graphic Design/Illustration/Photo Stylist - Independent Contractor
Worked for various clients on a wide range of projects including design and illustration for
toys, games, crafts, stickers and giftware. Prepared costing estimates and deadline
timetables for each project. Met with clients on an ongoing basis to review each project
through out the design process. Personally designed and illustrated all projects from
initial comps to final production using Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and Quark
Express software programs. Services provided included Graphic Design: art direction,
package design, comps, logo design, sell sheets, catalogs, product design and
development. Photography: accountable for all aspects of each photo shoot, both in
studio and on location including model casting, choosing clothing, props and
backgrounds, set styling, working with hair/makeup stylists and “kid handlers”,
organization and art direction at the shoot itself. Illustration: line art, concept sketches
and finished full color art in a variety of mediums.
1993 – 1994 Heinrich Design, Foxboro, MA
Hasbro - Consultant/Art Director/Photo Stylist - Independent Contractor
Responsible for organizing and directing a conversion program for 102 Playskool division
packages. Followed each individual package thru entire design process, insuring all
adhered to new line look requirements and guidelines. Met tight scheduling and release
deadlines to separators and printers. Established and prepared bi-weekly meetings for
legal and marketing staff to sign-off on work in progress. Traveled frequently to New York
and Boston to coordinate and direct all child and product photography for the
packaging. This included model casting, art direction, communicating design directives
to stylists for backgrounds, sets, clothing, props, hair and makeup. Assigned and
approved services received from various vendors; including designers, illustrators,
photographers, separators and printers. Managed two designers assisting with the
mechanical production portion of the conversion program.
1990 – 1992 Hasbro, Pawtucket RI
Playskool Package Designer
Took all packaging projects thru complete design process. Included logo design, layout,
color comps and direction to the production team. Worked closely with other
departments: R&D, engineering, model shops and marketing to meet strict deadlines.
Accountable for coordinating and directing photo shoots for models and products.
