MANUFACTURING OPERATIONS LEADERSHIP
Strategically builds manufacturing organizations by employing industry leading techniques such as lean
manufacturing. Improves profitability and operational execution by increasing manufacturing throughput and
flexibility, while lowering inventory and improving customer service. Solidly grounded in union/non-union,
domestic/international, and single/multi-plant manufacturing environments.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Innovative and Effective Manager:
• Facilitated a $3 million (20%) increase in sales by implementing lean manufacturing techniques, which
significantly shortened lead times and increased flexibility on a key, seasonal, multi-plant product line.
• Saved $5 million through a multi-facility process reengineering program employing “best practices”.
Operational Excellence using Lean /Six Sigma techniques:
• Decreased cycle time from six weeks to six days by implementing cellular manufacturing techniques.
Consistently demonstrates improvements in throughput while lowering labor costs resulting in
•
a 20% improvement in customer service by applying lean and 5S techniques in a wide range
of environments.
Customer Focused Leadership:
• Championed and integrated sales and operations planning to improve customer service and address
critical capacity and coordination issues.
EXPERIENCE
ATCO RUBBER PRODUCTS, Fort Worth, Texas 2004 - 2009
A $200 million privately held manufacturer of flexible duct work and components for the HVAC industry.
2006 - 2009
General Manager Wire Drawing –Sheet Metal
• Managed the creation of a new division by leading a project team to install and start up an $8 million
capital investment consisting of 5 wire drawing lines and associated equipment in two separate
facilities. All start-up and operational objectives were met in the first year for this project that
incorporated 5S and lean concepts.
• Directed the design and implementation of an on-line quality system for wire featuring the ability to
track finished spooled wire quality parameters to the original coil of high carbon rod.
• Guided the installation of a web based CMMS to track all maintenance activity, maintenance stores
inventory and assets in both wire drawing facilities and sheet metal.
2004 - 2006
General Manager Sheet Metal
• Led a multi year lean effort resulting in substantially higher throughput and better customer service
while lowering labor costs 28% and saving $410,000.
• Dramatically cut workers compensation costs from a high of $285k in 2005 (39 OSHA occurrences) to
$10k in 2008 (4 OSHA occurrences).
• Championed the reengineering of several processes, incorporating lean concepts, to revitalize a product
line, improving quality and increasing sales.
