TRAINING PROGRAM
Quality control Microbiology (Microbiology and Quality Associates, Berkeley)
• Maintain the SOPs and the protocols according to USP under GMP and GLP regulations
• Perform testing for identification of bacteria in Raw materials and finished products
• Training in Environmental monitoring (Settling Plate, NON- Viable particulate count,
Slit-to-Agar Sampler/ Contact Plates).
• Endotoxin testing by LAL and water testing (Membrane Filtration, Spread plate and Pour
Plate Analysis)
• Bioburden testing, Clean room operations, Sterilization techniques and making reagents
• Testing of critical utilities, TOC, Air sampling and particulate count.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Jan 05 - Dec 06
Worked as Microbiologist in Quality control (Vetindia Pharmaceuticals Ltd)
Duties:
• Using the standard procedures for testing the Raw materials and finished products
• Maintain the SOPs and the protocols according to IP/BP/USP under GMP regulations.
• Perform testing for identification of microorganisms like E. coli, Pseudomonas, S.
aureus, Salmonella spp and for yeast and molds by selective agar and biochemical tests
(Indole, catalase, Gas production(Durham’s tube), oxidation)
• Water testing for identification of microorganisms using R2A agar and Heterotrophic
plate counts(Settling Plate, NON- Viable particulate count, Slit-to-Agar Sampler/ Contact
Plates)
• Determination of the viable microbial counts in sterile and non sterile area.
• Testing of water for the Injectable unit for pH, acidity/alkalinity, Ammonium, Calcium
and magnesium, heavy metals, chlorides, nitrates, sulphates, oxidisable substances,
residue of evaporation.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Graduate Research Assistant Jan 07 – July 09
Food Microbiology & Immunochemistry lab, Alabama A&M University
• Design and schedule micro sampling and the collection of swabs from suspected food
samples. Work on general food micro lab procedures like serial dilutions, weighing and
preparing Media, plating of the samples, Water Testing, Autoclave sanitization and
sterilization techniques and colony counting in BSL-3 lab.
• Study antibiotic resistance patterns of microorganisms by using antibiotic sensitivity test
(ABST) by Spiral Plate technique.
• Growing of Caco-2 cell lines and working on them for the Adhesion, Invasion, Lactate
Dehydrogenase (LDH) and Apoptosis assays for determining the pathogenic cytotoxic
effects of the Microorganism
• In the product shelf life studies are done by testing pH, salt, Moisture content, Acid,
color, texture and preservatives. Microbial testing by pour plate and spread plate for
E.coli, Pseudomonas, mold and fungi.
• Guiding undergraduate students in the lab to preparation of media, Inventory and
Maintenance of stock cultures (Bacterial and Tissue culture cell lines)
• Usage of Homogenizers, HPLC, Gas and liquid Chromatography in Advanced
Analytical techniques and Instrumentation
Undergraduate:
• Collection of Milk samples, water samples and Meat samples for the identification of the
microorganisms. Perform Gram staining, autoclaving, Prepare media and making agar
plates and broth tubes.
• Identification of Coliform organisms and use of membrane filtration method from the
contaminated fecal samples
