Manager of Data Management, Auto and Home Group August 2007-December 2008

• Responsibilities included the management of projects, associates (DBA’s, Data Architects) and ensuring the

day to day operations of MetLife business processes. Team consisted of Data Architects, who created DDL

and maintained Erwin Data Models, for the implementation of source updates in support of the business to the

various databases.

• Responsible for the management of Database Administrators who supported, maintained, implemented/applied

source updates. Architectural platforms(some) included mainframe, Data Warehouse (STAR schema), Oracle

DBMS(AIX RISC servers), IBM UDB DB2, data modeling performed utilizing Erwin.

• Additional projects included the migration of data to new AIX server with Oracle 10G installation, Imaging

backup/recovery methodology(strategy reviewed for potential data loss), application of DBMS/application

• Cost Reduction initiatives (cost savings approximately $500K through tuning alone(fetch), buffer pool changes,

database reorgs.

• Data Architect projects included data model creation and maintenance; design, creation and upgrades to

existing structures in support of business rules; creation of DDL, assurance of data integrity through the use of

constraints, assurance of model integrity across environments (development, QA, production), and ongoing

support of DBA activities. Resources included Offshore Support module, in support of DBA maintenance

model.

Manager of IT Finance, Princess Cruises October 1997-January 2007

• Responsible for providing IT solutions to address business requirements of the Finance Department.

• Projects ranged from automating manual processes to designing new applications residing on an IBM RS6000

running AIX 5.x 64-bit PAR-RISC.

• Specific projects which I programmed/designed/implemented included the programmatic redesign of the Chart

of Accounts from 7 segments to 6 segments; creation of a process to automate Oracle’s Intercompany

Accounting process; descriptive flexfield functionality circumventing Oracle’s standard descriptive flexfield

process; customization(s) to simulate Oracle Projects without installing the module and creation of a global

Paymaster application, integrated within Oracle Financials.

• Projects managed included forms, customizations, upgrade/installation of Markview’s Imaging Software; and

the management of custom software as applicable to a globalization project in which to consolidate multiple

Oracle instances into a single instance, worldwide.

• The globalization project was a collaborative effort of all companies (Carnival Corporation) with a

consolidation and streamlining of business processes(Worldwide – some locations included Australia,

Germany, England, etc); all bundled into a single, functional Finance application.

• Administrative responsibilities included staff assignment, project alignment, projected costs and budgeting.

Oracle Consultant, Princess Cruises March 1997-October 1997

• Provided technical assistance, support to staff in the initial implementation of Oracle Financials.

• A six month contract to install and provide support (programming, analysis, functional, forms/reports)

in preparation for upcoming installation.

• Programs were written using Unix scripting for an IBM RS6000 AIX machine to automate processes,

transfer data from legacy to core machine, conversion scripts, invocation scripts, compile forms, run

reports and write conversion programs.

• Oracle Consultant, initially, hired to provide technical support for Oracle reporting and processes (platform -

DEC-VAX). Hired as a full time programmer analyst and continued with support to automate business

processes and resolve production issues.

Project Leader, MetLife Corporation March 1994-June 1995

Bellevue, WA

• Responsible for support and maintenance of Oracle Financial's product, residing on an HP 9000 series HP-UX

platform.

• Projects included installation of Oracle Financial's, upgrades to the 10.7 release, application of patches and the

creation of new financial reports and customization to existing software.

• Installation of Oracle upgrades to system were initiated and applied by myself, utilizing Oracle scripts.
