tenants and negotiate lease terms.

Responsibilities: Managed the Real Estate Department, supervising all activities throughout the
Southeast (including the planning of new stores, the disposition of excess properties, and
managing the Real Estate data and documents).

Responsibilities: Managed the Eastern North Carolina/Tidewater Virginia territory with respect to
real estate matters (which included planning for new stores, negotiating lease documents and
negotiating store expansions).

Position: Site Analyst
Responsibilities: Conducted field research by locating and estimating the performance of
competitors; reviewed and evaluated proposed locations; built computer models that simulated
market conditions; and prepared Market Study reports that included sales forecasts and site
potential analysis for review by upper management.

Initially, I joined Food Lion as a draftsman, responsible for preparing fixture plans and store
criteria drawings. As the department grew, I became the lead draftsman and subsequently
Engineering Coordinator, responsible for five draftsmen and two engineering clerks. During my
last year in the department, I conceived and implemented the conversion to computer drafting and
trained the staff to be CAD system operators.
