DIRECTOR TECHNICAL PROCUREMENT 2007 2009
The Director of Technical Procurement leads an organization of 25+ individuals serving over 400 clients in the research and
development community. The position is responsible for over $350 million in spend including IT/IS and new product
development for a pipeline of upwards of 12 potential new products.
Selected Accomplishments:
Developed procurement strategies to support the introduction of several successful new products including Snus and MST.
Built, developed and maintained over 20 new supplier relationships in support of new product introductions
Contributed over $100 million in cost savings to the bottom line through: RFP/RFI process, effective negotiations, flexible

The Senior Manager of RD&E Procurement is responsible for managing over $100 million in spend with a staff of ten individuals.
The area supports upwards of 300 clients, new product development, engineering, and process development as well as health
science and university research.
Selected Accomplishments:
Over $60 million in annualized savings through competitive bidding, contract restructuring and alternate sourcing strategies.
Led the strategic procurement for two successful new product introductions and launches, the first ever non cigarette
adjacent products in the history of Philip Morris USA reporting directly to the VP of Product Development.
Developed material expertise and new product sources in the following areas: injection molded plastics, metal packaging,
shrink films, dissolvable films, and resins through industry analysis, contract negotiations, and contract structuring.
Managed and executed over 40 new contracts in support of the new product development.
Developed improved contracting process and organizational design resulting in the redeployment of 12 RD&E individuals
previously involved in an intermediate contract scoping group.
