Content Strategy Director – Borders Group, Ann Arbor, MI October 2007 to March 2009

Second largest book retailer in the world with $4 billion in annual revenue, 1,300 retail stores in the US and 35,000 employees

creating a headquarters for knowledge and entertainment via in-store retail, interactive kiosks, and e-commerce.

• Created, developed, and executed digital marketing strategy for marketing department’s entertainment

division, BordersMedia, in order to entertain, inform, and enhance the customer experience in-store and

online. Successfully grew customer base, contributed to net incremental revenue generation in excess

of $9 million, and increased online and in-store TV audiences more than 150% within first year of

operation through strategic distribution of Borders original television and radio programming.

Led digital marketing initiative to re-brand Borders in the minds of its customers, employees, shareholders, and

corporate affiliates, as an entertainment destination business, in addition to a bookstore.

Launched Borders TV - an in-store digital signage and TV network in 102 Borders superstores nationwide, reaching

1.4 million customers each week, showcasing Borders entertainment content via original programming and marketing

messaging. Created strategy and managed programming for whole network.

Directed collaboration between multiple internal business units and third party partners to increase brand awareness

and expand Borders content opportunities into new distribution platforms, such as Borders.com e-commerce, loyalty

programs, social networking sites, in-store digital signage and interactive kiosks, national media outlets, and

blogosphere.

Drove marketing results, revenue generation in excess of $9 million, customer satisfaction, and competitive

differentiation through use of multimedia, consumer experiences, and strategic branding initiatives.

Managed content team members in the preparation and distribution of Borders content to desired media channels, and

worked closely with entertainment alliances group and merchandising teams for seamless execution. Created high

ROI opportunities with very few resources or budget.

Appointed by digital signage industry experts to serve as an Advisory Board Member to Digital Signage Expo, the

world’s largest annual international tradeshow and conference solely dedicated to digital signage and interactive
