Governance advisory firm, founded in 1999, with international and national recognition devoted to building a bridge
of trust between management, the board of directors, and all stakeholders. The firm has provided education,
information, and advisory services to directors and executives from hundreds of companies including Fortune 500
multinationals to smaller entrepreneurial start-ups, both publicly traded and privately held, for profit and nonprofit.
CFO & COO
• Designed and implemented all corporate accounting, planning, finance, information systems, regulatory and
marketing processes for the firm, growing the firm from an unknown start-up to international recognition.
• Streamlined the production process for a major web-based educational product which involved the filming,
editing and web hosting of over 800 video programs on governance, finance, and related topics, reducing
production time by 1/3 while attaining higher quality output (compared with previous production results by
our experienced, technical partner).
• Developed a unique, innovative analytical report called the “FACTS” report cited by a major institutional
investor as a valuable, detailed analysis of corporate functioning not available from any other major analytic
service or outlet, including investment banks and other corporate analysts.
• Edited a financial textbook in the prestigious Wiley Finance Series which was recognized and recommended
by Harvard Business Working Knowledge and is used in MBA programs and recommended to students in
universities world-wide.
VERTEX SYSTEMS CORPORATION, Columbus, OH 1998 - 2000

provide the opportunity for the mentally and emotionally challenged to obtain employment and independent living.
Navision Project Manager and Software Developer
• Built the vision and led first live client installation of Navision Financial software (now Microsoft) resulting
in smooth transition from the legacy system and creating a new product line for the software firm.
• Established a repeatable project plan process to make future installations of Navision turn-key for the Vertex
Systems developers.

Business advisory service providing strategic, finance, accounting, tax, operations, and human resource consulting
for small to medium-sized businesses including technology, retail and manufacturing firms.
Owner and Business Counselor
• Led strategic reviews of business issues and opportunities and established specific working plans for clients
with solutions that allowed their businesses to generate additional revenues, save money, increase operational
efficiencies, address human resource issues, and catch up and meet tax liabilities on a timely basis.

Strategic leader who provided counsel to the division head, and acted (later in my tenure) as second-in-command for
the over 200 employee Bioanalytical Systems Division, an $80mm (sales at that time) manufacturer, packager and
distributer of chemical including high purity reagents and standards for use in laboratory operations worldwide.
Director of Materials Management
• Sharpened, refocused and streamlined the operations of the contracts, purchasing, warehousing, production
control and inventory management functions which reported to me (including managers, supervisors,
professionals, clerical and members of the bargaining unit) using LEAN manufacturing and continuous
improvement techniques. Formulated strategy and policy and created KPIs / metrics for all key
accountabilities. Provided oversight for staff implementation of ISO 9002.
• Led strategic assessment and re-implementation of ERP / MRPII system for production and inventory control
to make the system effective and aligned with the division’s needs (after the implementation had been
installed for the previous director by MRPII consultants).
• Built the vision for a new production approach for the division and created a key vendor partnering strategy
which lowered lead times and reject volume and reduced costs by eliminating redundant quality testing.
• Increased customer service six percentage points to 96% while simultaneously reducing inventory levels
35% through re-engineering of the inventory, sales, and logistics forecasting and planning processes.

• Led a strategic review which improved the control structure, effectiveness and capabilities of the information
systems function, developing long-range and operating plans, establishing written policies and procedures,
streamlining operations, reducing staff, and enhancing capabilities through selection, and purchase and
installation of a new mainframe system.
• Performed detailed acquisition analysis for the corporation/division and participated in due diligence on a
potential target.
• Re-engineered the division’s capital budgeting and planning process and developed numerous financial
analyses, including the creation of an innovative variance analysis which solved a corporate and divisional
problem related to production volume decision-making.
Manager of Cost Accounting and Budgeting
• Established the first general ledger accounting and internal controls process for the division, including capital
asset ledger, inventory, responsibility accounting and variance analysis, and implemented the financials in a
new ERP system.
• Designed and managed the division’s annual budgeting and planning process, defined and implemented the
first cost accounting methodologies and designed the first personnel database system for the division.
