Manager Helpdesk
Operated in Service Delivery Group providing level 1 and 2 support to users with primary support to
engineering organization. Completed IT-related merger projects including office move, NIS merge,
Clearcase, office closure, and AD migration.
• Managed the Barber Lane office preparation move to California Circle. Set up temporary NIS structure
moving users to new NIS in preparation for move.
• Upgraded Vob Server (Clearcase) to Sunfire 440 from Ultra 80. Increasing the performance for
engineering as much as 4 times faster.
• Managed closure of LTX Phoenix office and move of facility to Tempe office. Substantial cost
savings to LTX
LTX CORPORATION, Milpitas, CA. 1987-2008
Manager Helpdesk (2001-2008)
Managed the Service Delivery department in Milpitas and Norwood consisting of 6-8 people as well as
managed support for two remote offices in Dallas and Phoenix.
• Project coordinator for the installation of VOIP upgrades for three development and sales offices.
Interviewed and managed vendors, contractors and project team to ensure that the upgrades completed
over a weekend to mitigate any user impact.
• Managed and purchased all IT and engineering equipment from vendors (Dell, CDW, Sun, NetApp),
and negotiated the software maintenance contracts. In one instance with Sun, saving the company over
$100k in a 3 year period.
• Consolidated and reduced company phone lines for a savings of over 50% in San Jose and Phoenix.
• Planned and coordinated network upgrades for Dallas and San Jose with no down time to our customer
base.
• Removed old domain name from over 1000 machines, including configuration files, scripts, soft links,
nis and nfs.
• Ongoing support of out of state office, including the installation and maintenance of Network
Appliance server, setup of Clearcase servers/clients, installation of Linux (CentOS) workstations, and
maintenance of raid server for software builds.
• Generated and managed the shutdown and bring up procedures for our San Jose IT server room and
network. (75 servers and 300 workstations).
• Installation and setup of the Citrix farm in Norwood and San Jose
Network System Administration Manager (1998-2001)
• Managed 6 - 8 UNIX and NT Administrators, focusing on Network and Systems Administration
management for San Jose Office and remote locations (Dallas and Phoenix).
• Responsible for implementation and operation of site LAN; WAN connections.
• Provided systems administration support for all workstations/servers connected to the network.
• Updated all UNIX and PC workstations/servers to be Y2K compliant in San Jose and two remote
offices (Dallas and Phoenix) for year 2000.
• Successfully streamline our network to a 3Com core builder and 3Com switches. Replaced old
hardware with new while experiencing little or no down time.
• Implemented helpdesk for maintaining our trouble tickets. This includes beeper and email support for
trouble tickets as well as a using a DDTs tracking service.
• Performed duties to support capital asset management and maintenance contracts. Included negotiating
and maintaining maintenance contracts, licensing, acquisition of hardware and software.
• Implemented new Auspex fileserver.
Network Administrator I and II (1994-1998)
• System Administration for Sun and HP Apollo’s. Includes installations of software, writing and
maintain procedures for Suns/Apollo’s. Assisted with Engineering and Manufacturing with new
hardware products.
