Alcoa is the world's leading producer of primary and fabricated aluminum.
The Cleveland, Ohio group provides castings and forgings for clients in the
Aerospace, Automotive and Commercial Transportation markets. I have total
Human Resource and Labor Relations responsibilities for the Large Aerospace
and Works Engineering division, which is comprised of approximately 350
employees. My primary focus is working with the UAW and management staff to
create an engaged and harmonious environment where both labor and
management come together to achieve a profitable environment. I am
responsible for working closely with plant operations regarding labor
movement and labor allocation plans. I also handle grievances, labor
disputes, and investigations. I am the SPA (Single Point Accountability)
for the newly launched Diversity Help Chain, which provides an avenue for
hourly and salary employees to raise issues regarding harassment and
discrimination.
Henkel Consumer Adhesives, Avon, Ohio (now Shurtape)
5/05 - 8/07, Human Resources Manager
Henkel was a leader in the consumer adhesives business. I was responsible
for: pay administration, policy administration, recruitment, and
performance reviews as it relates to our hourly employees in the
Manufacturing and Distribution areas, with a major focus on employee
relations. I spent a great deal of my time working with and advising the
Operations Management team on Human Resources related issues. I
administrated the STD and FMLA programs for both our professional and
hourly employees. I was also responsible for overseeing our contract and
partnership with our onsite temporary staffing agency, Spherion. In
addition, I conducted training, investigations, and other projects as
assigned.

A.J. Rose Manufacturing is a metal stamping facility catering to the
automotive industry. I was responsible for all recruitment at our Avon
facility, management of our training efforts, including delivery,
development and writing of new training including monthly safety training,
machine specific technical training, and other various training needs,
union relations, and general employee relations. My involvement in
staffing includes reviewing resumes, pre-screening candidates, coordinating
and conducting interviews, candidate testing, and reference checking. My
responsibilities also included writing all discipline, organizing,
facilitating, and instructing new hire orientation, participating in Jr.
Achievement in order to strengthen our community ties, and working on
projects in order to promote continuous process improvements within the
organization. Some of those projects included the development of an
employee handbook, writing of safety policies to meet OSHA requirements,
and insuring that our training department was meeting all TS standards.

I was responsible for the staffing of over 20 clinical and non-clinical
areas of the hospital. My responsibilities included: reviewing resumes to
determine which department a candidates' skills would best fit, pre-
screening candidates, completing Talent+ interviews (a telephone
interviewing process), and coordinating in-person interviews with
supervisors. I also handled: employee grievances, exit interviews, a
portion of our new hire orientation, finding alternative ways of sourcing
candidates, attending various job fairs, and keeping up to date on our
computer applications in order to be a back-up resource for our HRIS staff.

I was a participant in the simultaneous opening of several new branches.
Duties that I performed during this period included: coordinating job
fairs, developing a calendar of events to guide the process, placing
advertisements, prescreening and interviewing candidates, and reference
checking. I was also responsible for the development and implementation of
a system to track and analyze our applicant flow. This was during the
closing of a two-year audit. This system inspired several other satellite
offices to implement the same system. I was also responsible for all of
the administrative work done for the department such as: the creation of
documents (offer letters, regret letters, written warnings, and
probation's), all record keeping pertaining to employees and applicants,
the coordination of EAP for the employees after robbery's, answering
benefit questions, assembly of new hire orientation materials, testing of
applicants, and other projects as they were assigned. I also created a
training manual for my position, which was utilized, in our other Human
Resource locations.
