Assured all product and tool designs comply with manufacturing
feasibility and tooling standards. Evaluated supplier quotations for
reasonable and competitive costs. Maintained tool and gage timing to
support vehicle build schedule and requirements. Responsible for all
DFM, mold flow, tool design buyoff, tryout, and execution activities.
Coordinated root cause and problem solving activities with product
engineering and vehicle manufacturing plant.
. Successfully launched five vehicle programs for interior and exterior
components and systems.
. Saved $172K on tooling designs by elimination of components and the
consolidation of molds.
. Recovered a major program timing delay caused by the lack of
manufacturable math data.
. Consistently maintained an excellent rapport with tool shops, tier 1
suppliers and assembly plants.
. Managed a four week reduction in tooling lead time to assure build
event timing was met.
Saturn Corporation, Madison Heights, MI 1987-2001
Senior Manufacturing Project Engineer 1997-2001
Managed the design, build and launch activities for injection molds,
gages, and secondary equipment built for in-house molding at Spring Hill
assembly plant. Wrote "Statement of Requirements" for all molds, gages,
and secondary equipment for quotation. Responsible for all DFM, mold
flow, tool design buyoff, tryout, and execution activities. Authored all
purchase requests for engineering changes and the acquisition of tooling
and equipment. Coordinated with vehicle manufacturing teams to assure
first time quality of components and/or any potential design changes.
. Facilitated the acquisition of mold flow services for all mold

. Organized and conducted technical reviews with potential suppliers.
. Managed three different programs simultaneously, and provided all with
on-time delivery.
Manufacturing Engineer 1988-1997
Responsible for the development of the APQP documentation and quality
assurance plans of tier 1 suppliers in order to achieve successful
production launches and efficient PPAP approvals. Monitored first time
part runs to ensure quality systems and containment were properly in
place. Assured process capability targets were achieved. Part
responsibilities included; airbag systems, electrical wiring, switches,
powertrain components, and a variety of soft trim parts.
. Reduced equipment expenditure by $450K through lean manufacturing
techniques resulting in eliminating secondary operations, and further
reducing burden and piece cost.
Prototype Build Electrical Technician 1987-1988
Ensured all prototype test vehicles were properly instrumented and
functional prior to shipment for testing. Provided field service support
for any electrically related failures during vehicle testing and
management evaluation drives.
. Received award for outstanding achievement for the facilitation and
execution of a design concept that saved over $10M in a four year
period.
