Project 1: Integrated State Tax Administration (iSTAR)

Role: Implementation Engineer

Client: Illinois Department of Revenue

i-Star is a windows based intranet application aimed at

providing a comprehensive tax administration solution to state

workers to manage various types of taxes . I am currently involved

in implementing the 'Returns & Payments' module of the product to

administer Individual Income Taxes and Vehicle Sales & Use Taxes.

The module facilitates adding new tax payers, setting up

appropriate accounts (for different tax types) and managing the

billing and returns for these accounts. The module also includes

certain web services to manage online taxing systems.

Responsibilities:

. Involved in client discussions during requirement analysis

. Involved in system modeling and developing use cases using UML

CDB is an integrated application aimed at providing simulation and

configuration features for designing display tools.

This application is used on a daily basis by the engineers at

Integrated Monitoring System Division (IMSD) of the Caterpillar

Electronics department. The purpose of this application is to provide

an integrated development and testing tool for IMSD engineers for

building a variety of Caterpillars core display devices (viz ADVISOR,

MESSANGER, GEN III, CMPD) which are used in machines like tractors,

wheel loaders, trucks etc. The application includes an easy-to-use

user interface and dynamic business logic unit which involves

implementation of complex calibration and service test protocols.

Responsibilities:

. Actively involved in all phases of the business tier

development.

. Designed and developed the user interface using .NET 2.0

frameworks with C# as programming language.

. Designed and developed complex business tier modules (real

time data processing engine and data transfer engine)

X-CBE is an intranet based web application which aims at providing

integrated billing engine for monitoring and managing the roaming services

provided by the company across the country. The billing engine is used by

CSRs (Customer Service Representatives) across the extensive network of

company's call centers to manage billing adjustments, product adjustments,

payment processing for both residential and business consumers.

Responsibilities:

. Actively involved in all phases of SDLC

process changes, rules and application user requirements

roamers and optimize operational costs. It is an intranet based

application aimed at providing an integrated roaming network

management platform to the mobile network operators to control their

out roamers (mobile network operators in other geographic areas). By

doing this, mobile network operators can benefit from better revenue

shares and bilateral preferential treatment within the group or with

the preferred partner network. The application was designed to be

used by inter company personnel ranging from top management to network

operators and field engineers. Certain modules of the application also

focused on providing an interactive user interface to the subscribers

of these networks.
